in fact I have always contended that Edward VIII was forced to resign as King of the UK, for his close ties with the Nazis and personal friendship with Hitler, of course it was easy to blame his choice of Wife!

Churchill and Hitler were alike in MANY ways however painful that might be to hear, and it needed someone like Churchill to defeat Hitler. Churchill advocated the forced sterilisation of people deemed as disabled or retarded, and another interesting point was that people often ask why did Hitler never use Gas on London? because oddly enough he hated the use in warfare and Churchill had threatened respond in like if he did.

Wether this is actually true I do not know but have found no evidence either way.

One last point they say that the Victors are the ones who write the History and the nanquished are demonised, one of Churchill quotes is "History will be kind to me for I intend to write it. "

Neither do I want to see the Country in which I grew up(UK) dissapear, but because of the the OVER REACTION to an attack on a foreign Country(US) That is EXACTLY what is happening to me. Let`s get this right - BRITAIN was NOT in collusion with the Nazi`s. Does it sound right that the only European country not yet invaded by Germany and was still in full armed conflict around the globe against the Nazi`s would be colluding?

This was the actions of a single man that caused embarrassment to the government. Whilst the foreign office were aware of his visit, had they intervened then they would have a connection to the person who is shown in this video. He was unsuccessful but his actions would not have turned the tide of war as this was likely to be inevitable.

I haven`t visited spiked humor too frequently over the past two years, is anti-Americanism now the cool thing or something? Not just from comments in this thread but other recent ones. Don`t get me wrong, I hate the current administration, don`t want to be in Iraq, and refuse to watch mainstream media all together due to the crap they spew out. But global corporate conspiracies for American world domination?

I don`t mean to single out the people quoted above, I`m commenting more on the general sense I`ve gotten from reading the comments here recently. I`m sure there are people in the US that want to invade most of the middle east because they think they pose a threat and feel this is the best solution. But most politicians, and yes even most Americans (despite what certain media sources will tell you)are actually smarter than this. Just because some idiot on fox or some other cable news station says something doesn`t mean Americans believe or agree with that statement. 2/3 of Americans want out of Iraq now, the American people wouldn`t allow for an expansion of this current war, into Iran or any other country. Even if they did want to it`s simply a logistical impossibility with the amount of money, and more sadly personnel, wasted in Iraq.

Although nothing to do with the rest of my post, I`m pretty sure it was Truman that dropped the Atomic bombs.
