My friend had me watch a British film and insisted that I would need subtitles to understand the dialog. I kept telling him I don`t need subtitles to understand English. He was then impressed by how well I understood English. The movie had Chavs in it so he couldn`t understand; I`m willing to bet he couldn`t understand this as well.

I wish less stereotypes about Americans were true most of the time.

I`m sorry. But I need subtitles. I couldn`t understand about 40% of what was said and I consider my English to be very good compared to most people I know.
