Police TRAP Peaceful Protesters in Denve...

American News Project: A calm political protest quickly turned chaotic as anxious Denver police surrounded protestors peacefully marching toward the Democratic National Convention Center. After trapping the crowd between two buildings, hundreds of officers used pepper spray, batons and unwarranted aggression. After being surrounded for 20 minutes, two ANP producers managed to escape after recording the whole affair.

#1. You do not have the right to protest absolutely. You can`t just decide on a whim to disrupt civil function. You also need a permit. Did you have one?

You were not within your legal right to protest there. Read a fucking book instead of obsessively using paranoid internet videos to feed your need for outrage and drama.

#2. You`re not entitled to shit. You`re not part of a movement . You`re attention starved little twits who distort reality to feed emotion and can`t rationally process concepts beyond the emotional level.

What I`ve seen from the videos are a bunch of retarded college kids practicing Raasta roko, which for obvious reasons is illegal.

First off, i agree that use of force against peacful protesters is unlawful and disgusting.

However...

Complaining when cops lay a whoopen on you for protesting should come as NO shock. If you want to make a stand for something, expect people to push right back. Sorry, but that`s life. Just be grateful you live in a country that just maces and beats people.

Yes, I`ve read the constitution, you`re referring to the right to peacefully assemble mentioned in the first amendment. Your reasoning stops here. Its not that simple.

The boundaries within which one may legally protest were breached. The police didn`t do anything until they were legally obligated to.

Perfect example of the culture of entitlement here. Its like reading 10 pages in a 500 page book and attempting to tell us what the book is about. Its not legal to get up and protest at any time and in any manner you see fit. There are legalities obviously not understood with this group.

Intellectual simplicity is not an excuse for breaking the law.

do u understand how easily a large "peaceful" crowd of UNKNOWN people could turn violent/out of hand? these cops where doing their job, the protesters weren`t(assuming they never got a permit).

I`m not from the US, however I have (unlike you) read your own constitution. It does not put limits in where you can protest, in fact it seems to say there should be no limits on where you can protest. Obviously private property has to have some restrictions on it, however public properly is just that PUBLIC. There should be no PUBLIC area (including the fucking congress hall while they are in session) that `we the people` should not be allowed to protest in. That is the meaning of the words written on the paper your police use as toilet paper. If those that have such great protections give them up and beg to be a slave, how can those around the world without those protections hope for anything?

So just trapping people is considered brutality now a days? Fuck when I was in the G8 protest in Gothenburg the cops shot loads of us with rubber bullets, and people call us one of the freest countries. Just getting some mace in your eye for being stupid enough to go within 6 feet officer is not a horrible thing. In these situations cops are kinda like rattlesnakes. They are actually more scared than you are and only react if you get to close to them, let them have their zone and don`t get to close. They can hear your taunts just as good from 3 feet as they can from 15 feet.

I`m all for protesting and all that, but this really didn`t seem legit. Get a permit to close down the street and don`t get close to the cops, also wear one of those ski goggles to protect you from mace and video cameras.

Unbelievable. The spirit of protest which our constitution protects was not respected by city officials at all. They directed police to act as they did, and were the ones who granted a protest permit but chose to place it in a completely unrelated area, negating its purpose: for the `people` to be heard by their leadership, who were too far away to even care much less pay attention. I was impressed by Denver for their forward-thinking perspectives on decriminalization of weed, but this is a BIG strike against that group of people. WTF are they thinking pulling this crap??
