^I think 2010-11 is the estimated release date. They announced it in 2007 and they are probably doing very basic design and brainstorming right now. Vigil Games are working on it.

Mythic got the rights to WAR in mid 2005 and they`ve been working since then. If it takes them 3 years to make the game then it should take Vigil at least that time.

Warhammer is a series I`ve never really followed, although it always seemed very cool. It`s just you`ve got the sci-fi futuristic series, with the Space Marines, or whatever, against the forces of Chaos. Then you have the medieval series. This obviously looks like the medieval side, although the guns look interesting.

All the same, if it`s a MMORPG, I probably won`t play it. Had my fill of those, and I just don`t ever want to get involved in such a large time-sink again. If I had a wife that played with me, maybe that`d be different.

^Agreed, MasterChief182. While the visuals are impressive, how does this differ from WoW? We need more diversity in the MMO genre, and less rehashing of the same old material over and over.

World of Warcraft was supposed to be based off of Warhammer material...but the people turned them down...so then they made WoW, Its WoW that copied WAR...and i have played the beta for a while and can tell you if your into more PvP stuff you need to drop WoW right now and pick up WAR when it comes out on the 18th.

Infinitemonkeys: How does it differ? Well first of all the gameplay and in-game graphics are totally different. WoW look is to be as cartoony, stupid ridiculous and stylized as possible it seems, Warhammer looks much more realistic but still have that element of extravagant ornate armors and spells.

Then you have the fact that Warhammer has been around since the 80s and that Warcraft was probably made as a Warhammer clone for an RTS, of course this claim is kinda weak since there is little evidence to support it. It was mentioned in a gamer magazine 18 years ago or something like that.

\/I`m just saying the story and premise are the same. Its all based off of Tolkien. Pretty much all fantasy is just a shittier version of Middle Earth. I don`t give a fuck lame ass Warhammer came before Warcraft. They are both rip offs :D

you stupid fucking twat, warcraft is the rip off of warhammer, not the other way around. warcraft was supposed to be a warhammer game but the licensing fell through.

also staracraft is a warhammer 40k rip off.

not that i dont like warcraft or starcraft, cause i do. but get your fucking facts straight.

Play the closed beta like I`ve been! Cancel your preorder like everyone else is! It is by far the most painful game I have ever played. The combat sucks sooo freaking much, the graphics are literally like something from 1999. Tada said they are supposed to be realistic compared to WoW... they aren`t! They are childish and contain no more than 3 polygons per model. The controls blow, the combat sucks even more than the first time I said it did, animations blow, generic quests blow, models blow, combat really sucks... Only thing I like is RvR and public scenarios... which suck after you`ve done them once. Most people staying are staying for loyalty to the game and RvR battlefield. If you play PvE in this game, you should be killed by being beaten by your own balls.

I`ve stopped WoW for a while now cuz I just got over it and it was looking old, getting easy. I would so easily play WoW for another 6 months if I could get out of playing WAR for a week. Cuz WAR looks older, is easier, and is WoW with some cheaply made mod.

Best quote ever from us beta players about this game`s shittiness over the months...

"Give it to a Warhammer fanboi and they`ll be like `OMG!!! WTF IS THIS GAME??!! THIS SHIT SUCKS BALLS!!! I can`t wait till WAR comes out, it`ll kick so much more ass!`"
