Cuba`s Angel Valodia Matos, left, kicks match referee Sweden`s Chakir Chelbat in the face during a bronze medal match against Kazakhstan`s Arman Chilmanov in the men`s taekwondo +80 kilogram class at the Beijing 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008. Matos attacked the official, throwing punches and kicks, after being declared the loser in his bronze medal match.

That referee deserved it! I watched all the TKD matches in this Olympics and kept looking for crack pipes and alcohol because the judging and referee calls were terrible. They are the ones that put the sport to shame not Matos or anyone else that fought in this years games. I have been participating in this sport 7 years and it`s sad to see how it`s gone down hill like this.

If you`d actually watch the match, you`d realize that this outcome had absolutely nothing to do with a point being missed or anything of the sort, nothing to do with the subjectivity of the referee. What happened was, Angel took a minute injury time, and when his minute was up, he had to be standing on both feet, hands up, to which if he needed, he could have asked for more injury time. He failed to stand up even though a 10 second warning was issued, making him lose the match.

Angel Matos is the one to be put to shame, with a deserving lifetime ban. So before you spout off your mouth, get your facts straight.

Two things deserve a ban from the sport: Purposefully hitting a referee or hitting an opponent after a match has ended.

I`m not supporting this cuban guy but i find it kinda funny that after the match the ref said in an interview that there is no way the cuban can continue with his broken toe, yet if you look at this pic, that broken toe feet is kicking him in the face lol.
