how does the second one know which exact path the first one took
im thinking either the first one left an invisible trail for the second one to follow, or they both took the path of least resistance

I don`t think it is a replay. There is a tiny thingy falling down on the left side of the screen that doesn`t loop.

^^ I thought it was a loop at first too, but like Marvecko said there`s something falling from the sky near the beginning that isn`t there when the lightning strikes a second time.

LMFAO, no it`s not striking twice. The 1st strike comes from the clouds and hitting earth. That one is too quick for human eyes to detect so people never see the 1st strike. The 2nd strike is the surplus charges shooting back upward to the cloud from earth and that one is much slower and that`s what people see as lightening.

It`s not "lightning doesn`t strike twice", it`s "lightning doesn`t hit the same spot twice". And myth not busted, that spot that the first lightning hit isn`t there anymore for the second lightning bolt to hit...

they took the same path because the first strike left a trail of ionized air in the wake of the lightning, making it much easier (lower resistance) for the second strike to take that path
