I sometimes wonder if people who haven`t surfed before realize just how insanely terrifying this really is.

It`s easy to watch pros do it with some nice mellow music, but when you`re next to one of these things with just the sound of 30 foot walls of water crashing down, it`s a whole different story.

^^true most people don`t realize a "small" 6ft wave`s tip crashing on your arm can break it. I remember watching a video, forget who/which the guy is getting spat out of the the tunnel and barley gets clipped on his shoulder as he surfs off. Not enough contact to knock him off the board but enough to dislocate his shoulder.

Heck 3 ft shore break waves would scare the crap out of me if didn`t pay attention. LOl I flew over the falls and landed on my back on the sand got a good scrap and humbling(body surfing). Any little wave could easily get you knocked out as your tumbled along the bottom and hit your head on a rock if not throw out your shoulder.

And these monsters are what? 4 stories tall! Insane. They are going so fast humans can`t paddle fast enough to catch them so they have be towed in by a jet ski and often have straps on the surfboard for titanic waves like that.
