^ Very cool. I think it`s a pretty beautiful and captivating display for the simple tech it uses. I wish they would have real artists play with it, I can imagine flowing animations and evolving organic patterns. What they showed looked mostly like yet another scrolling sign art, nifty but trite.

Just discussing with my kid, we think it`s needle valves. The fast part would be a combination of low-mass needles, and push-pull (H-bridge) driver channels to both open and force close the valves, probably including PWM variable voltage waveform to get good fast snap with reasonable hold-open current. Aside from that the tech is nada. Big enough pump, small air tank to dampen the water shock, and a PC sequencing the patterns.
