The people have realized that the politician`s promises of safety when they adopted the ban were lies. Even policemen agrees that the gun ban is a complete failure. But the government keeps ignoring them.

That march wasnt about the Gun Ban, nor do most of those people want the Gun Ban to be reversed. That march was against the `Fox Hunting` ban, which most of Britain agree`s with and that video is trying to scew the facts by implying that the March was also against the Gun Ban (which it was not).

We can look at America for weither making Guns legal would make a difference and it does not. The reason there is alot more people with Guns at the moment than in the past, is that the price of them has come down by alot.. in the 80`s a handgun would cost alot of money rather now you could get one for £50.

Also, on the marks of `The Law has Skewed in too much favor of the Criminal` I can sort of agree with but not in the context they are referring to it. If someone enters your home illegally, that does not give you the right to use un-neccessary force or we`d live in a vigilanty society. He murdered someone, what did he expect? We dont have the death penalty in england (except for high treason) and yet he took the law into his own hands and gave the burgular the death penalty, our laws state that he is allowed to use force against the burgular but certainly not allowed to kill.

If anything, that case shows that the public should not be allowed to carry Guns legally, as they will take the law into there own hands and use that gun when they see fit.

This is one of the few things i agree with the Goverment on.

Also on that oldman commenting on the American Constitution, they have already lost it :)

The fox hunting ban WAS about foxes... the "sport" is despised by the general public. only the wealthy minority who live in nice houses in the country, lords and ladies, wanted to keep hunting foxes.

This wasn`t the largest protest in our history! That honour goes to the anti Iraq war demonstrations which attracted between 1.5 and 3 million people, depending who you believe.

Also, handguns were banned in the UK after the Dunblane massacre, where a gunman walked into a primary school and killed 16 5 and 6 year olds plus the teacher. Because of the ban it hasn`t happened since, whereas in the US there has been over 20 fatal school shootings in the same period of time.

And LOL at Frank Cook MP. He`s a member of the Labour Party, the same party that has been in government for the past 12 years, and the same government that this amateurish video is aiming its sights at for "eroding our freedoms".

The fact is gun crime has plummeted since the ban. If we take one of our roughest industrial cities, Manchester (2.5mil pop.) and compare it with a similarly sized US city, Chicago (2.8mil pop.)

2007 Gun homicides
Chicago - 435
Manchester - 3

As for Tony Martin who was jailed for murder, he had an illegal firearm and used it to shoot a 15 year old boy in the back who was trying to escape empty handed... and no, he isn`t still in jail. AND WTF! THAT ISN`T TONY MARTINS VOICE!

What a crock of shit! lol.

The price has come down by a lot because organized crime has taken charge of gun smuggling. The same thing happened with drugs and still today anyone still can illegally buy drugs easily. This just shows that you can`t stop criminals from having guns by seizing target pistols from honest citizens.

And I admit that I don`t know exactly what happened in the guy in the video`s case. But if he had no other choice other than using deadly force or being killed/severely wounded, I don`t see why he should be called a murderer. It is legal for a cop to do the exact same thing in a situation like this and it has nothing to do with the death penalty, only about saving the innocent people`s life. But if he just popped in front of them shot them both without warning, without giving them a chance to stop and back off or just shot them in the back as they were running away then yes you`re right he shouldn`t have done that.

FSM! I have never heard such a load of bollox in my life.
thanks to the posters above for putting this in a little perspective.
Martin was a lunatic who shot a kid 7 times in the back.
The whole `I need a gun to protect myself` types need to just look at the US, cos yeah there`s no crime in the states.

that title is a crock of shit, obviously from the video we can conclude that the ban on guns is not a problem, but that illegal smuggling of guns in violation of that ban is.

It`s easy solution actually. Buy a handgun of untraceable origin and if any burglar comes to your house, make sure to shoot him dead then put the handgun in the burglar`s hand and pull the trigger. If the police asks, tell them the burglar dropped the gun and you had no choice but to take control of the weapon and shoot him.

Fuck Tony Martain. His entire defense rests on equating murder (not manslaughter, cold blooded MURDER) with burglary, and that it is somehow morally upright to claim ownership of territory and possessions to that end. To even claim that anything can belong exclusively to you is morally repugnant in the first place. To KILL someone just for violating these shallow personal inadequacies is unspeakably evil. Martin is a concrete example of why guns should remain illegal. They`re not defensive weapons. All they do is attack (And no, attack is not the best form of defence, it`s the OPPOSITE of defence. If you replace defence with attack, then EVERYONE gets killed. Fucking dickhole.)

Um... How old is this video?
The Tony Martin incident happened in 1999 and the women said something about 4 years ago - making this video 5 years old.

Also, well said by the first two posters - The whole video is drastically out of context with the views of the UK public - the march was about fox hunting - nothing to do with the ban on guns.

The problem with guns is that if they are there, they are an option.

For better or for worse, I live by the philosophy of "better to be judged by twelve than be carried by six", and I`ve done so for a long time, because if someone draws a blade on me and attacks, I won`t hesitate to do whatever I can to gut the bastard back.

If someone breaks into my home, I`m going at him with a big piece of wood, but if he has a weapon, I`m not messing around with subduing, I`m killing him.

Fortunately, my home is virtually impossible to break into without someone taking notice. We`ve got one noisy bugger of a dog, and while me and my brother are nocturnal, the other house occupants are regular night-sleepers, so I think the only hours where everyone is actually sleep is roughly 6am to 7am.
