Or maybe the failure to respond effectively to changes in the market leads to problems?

Maybe if the government forced land rights holders to develop on the millions of acres of provable oil fields or loose the rights to drill on that land would fix the problem. The oil land rights holders are trying to get the right to drill on land that is off limits for drilling so that they can save their millions upon millions of acres of land and coastline for their future profits. If you don`t stop them from drilling on protected land it`s going to be all over.

American coasts will no longer be vacation destinations. Imagine every trip to the beach lets you look at oil platforms on the horizon. Maybe an accidental spill every 10 years that takes about 8 years to clean up enough where it`s not so noticeable. Walking on the beach leaves your feet all black and oily. Sounds awesome.
