That was fantastic. I just finished up an astronomy course at school, and every class the stuff we covered broke my brain a little.

47 billion light years in radius? I`m sorry but we don`t actually know that lol....and theoretically the universe is still expanding. These videos that are like....857347346 magillion blah blah blah probability blah blah....where is the hard evidence?

^true. im sure its based on some mathematical, and theoretical, formula, involving many variables, expansion after big bang, dark matter blah blah, crap i dont understand. its as good a guess as we`ve got for the time being though. 47 billion, why the hell not eh?

Consider this: our universe is traveling, let`s say, on an imaginary time line from this very moment to the next, and so on for (conceivably) infinity! Forget Einstein`s argument of space-time for now; in quantum mechanics, it is said (simply) that for every possible outcome of every possible scenario, there is an alternate universe that splits away and travels along that new imaginary time line which was formed at the conclusion of the scenario. Bear with me...

So, if there are, lets say, an infinite number of possible outcomes for an infinite number of possible scenarios, well then there are an infinite number of alternate universes existing in different realities.. we just can`t perceive them beyond our own continual time line that we`re in right now.

Make sense? Kinda? K, watch this:

last I heard is that the universe is indeed still expanding meaning there is possibility for infinite expansion (eternity)

We don`t need statistics to know there is other intelligent life out there. For us to believe we are alone is painfully arrogant and naive.

I dunno about you, but I would be embarrassed if we were in contact with others with the state our world is in. Still killing each other over skin color, a different take on some religious text or greed. Millions dying from hunger and disease while on the other side of the planet others are dying from gluttony and excess.

My jaw dropped....amazing video
But the problem is that before Big-Bang our universe was just the size of a golf ball. So what was on the outside the Golf-Ball??

dunno about that either Metacom9, I wouldn`t feel embarrass to what humanity have done or haven`t done. And I`m not saying we should be proud of it also but as long as we actively and constantly moving forward to find the ultimate truth of everything (as what our good men and women in science world are doing right now). We should be grateful. Since we are not perfect being, probably a very flawed one, it is understandable that we`re going to make or do stupid things along the way. Hopefully, not stupid enough to kill ourselves. But I`m optimistic, we`re going to be fine and I believe that someday, humanity will take a giant leap into something special. And that will ultimately decide the fate of human race in this universe. I have nothing against faith or religion. If you think about it, its` really a beautiful thing to have. Diversity is something we should cherish and be proud of. Different colors, beliefs, opinions, etc. For thousand of years, man relied on faith for survival and it worked. It is somehow embedded in our brain to believe in something that we haven`t seen or touch.
I`m pretty sure if we could speak to our ancestors, one thing they probably going to tell us is to believe in God, that good things will come if you have faith. You see, since the dawn of Man, believing is something we are good at. This is what separate us from animal which means,

Humanity is having faith.

47 billion light years? How do they know if those galaxies still exist? A light year is a unit of measurement, the distance that something traveling at the speed of light would travel in one Earth year. In other words, when the light left those galaxies in the `Ultra Deep Field,` it was 47 billion years ago. Doesn`t that pre-date our primordial ooze?
Anyway, doesn`t that Hubble image only indicate what was there 47 billion years ago? How do we know for sure that they still exist?

I`m sure someone will correct my numbers but that`s not the point, I`m only trying to visualize the idea of 47 billion light years.
