Bummer, the rock "horns" popular usage in metal and rock is usually attributed to Dio (although it had been used before him) - when he joined black sabath he wanted to connect with the fans after replacing Ozzy, who used to make the peace "V" sign. He did not want to copy Ozzy so he started using a sign his Grandmother used to make. The sign in Italy (Dio is of Italian ancestery) was believed to ward off evil spirits.

So, it has nothing to do with the Devil or satanism, at least not originally. And now it is just used as a sort of universal sign of "ROCK!"

This is actually very common knowledge to any metal fan.
