5/5 and thanks psychologyprofessor. Ramachandran is fucking awesome. I really really like his pragmatism. It`s we were thinking this, so we did this test... A true example of the power and genius of science as a way to more honest understanding.

Interesting.

He says how can someone beleive in god but yet be extrordinarily intelligent. So people you beleive in a higher power are dumb?

30 to 40% of people who have fits or are mad experiance god, so he worked out everyone who believes in god is mad?

Why it did not make a major affect in religious worlds is because it is not just the body that beleive in god but their "spirit"

so left hephispere is religous and the right scientific?

So what it sounds like he is saying, people who have their brain working in a way for them to beleive god are mad or not as smart as those who are scientific?

1. No it has to do with the word "intelligent" and "inconsistent". Believing in inconsistent things are not a sign of extraordinary intelligence.

2. No that`s your conclusion.

3. That has little to do with this video as Ramachandran only studies and is concerned with the brain. No "spirit" anywhere.

4. No that`s again your conclusion. He just mentions the fact that some people are "divided" about God, and that doesn`t fit so well with the "believe and be saved" doctrine.

Brain is Ramachandran`s field and that`s what he`s talking about. He stated that he would not go into the question whether God exists or not. Religion IS full of inconsistency. That`s a fact.

"are you saying then, that because i have a genetic predisposition to epilipsy that i am stupid? i think ur a dick."

I never said that, take emotion out of it and re read what i wrote

" That has little to do with this video as Ramachandran only studies and is concerned with the brain. No "spirit" anywhere.
"

What i was saying is that the reason why it did not have a big impact in the religious circle is Because they beleive the "holy spirit" is what helps you believe in god.

" Religion IS full of inconsistency. "

So are certain fields of science. eg evolution

Religion is mans making, and yes it is full of inconsistencies. God is not.

There are 2 types of people who beleive in god.

1. The type who are against organised religion and do not follow a man eg pope, minister, but do beleive in god and do their own study. The quiet ones, the ones that do not push their views and values around.

2. The type that follow what a man says just because he says he is doing gods work. They more worship the man instead of god. The ones that yell and scream preaching "the word" to everyone , and dam everyone else.

I was brought up in a religion and know first hand alot of them are mad, and power makes them even worse. I got out as soon as i was old enough.

Man makes the incosistencies. God is not an inconsistancy.

And if you listen he uses the word BUT inbetween god and intellegance usally meaning on the contrary, opposed to one another.

Man, I don`t know why you guys are complicating a simple theory (well simple, when it is explained by an intelligent person). All Ramachandran said, that it has been proven that brain has response(s) of heightened emotions, when god or anything religious is presented. That is why he said, with this he can not prove if god does exist or god does not exist. Take simple approach to things, otherwise our left hemisphere will complicate things by thinking too much :D
Good upload 4/5. (-1 for being an youtube video)
