This was one of the few scenes in a movie where i was literally shocked and this scene shook me emotionally when i first saw it. Those assholes drove the poor guy to the brink

Emzee has some sense. The whole point of the whole Pvt Pyle thing is to display the bully/bullied of this world. WTF was Vietnam, but a few superpowers deciding to bully a 3rd world nation?
Pvt Pyle represents Vietnam. He`s torn apart by the desire to do what people tell him is right, and his own moral compass. There`s no right/wrong in FMJ, which makes it the quintessential Vietnam War movie.
It was a war without a "good" guy. Most Vietnam movies ram down our throats one of two stories - the US were saviours, or barbarians. The reality is it`s a mix.

And as to the above comment about "hey, that shit is pretty realistic" ... I don`t mean to pry, but when the hell was the last time you saw someone blow their brains out across a bathroom wall? If it has actually happened to you, I doubt you`d be as much of a dumbass to actually spout that shit in spiked humor just to make a point - which basically means you`re a moron or talking shit. Either way, save your comments for the next GTA4 posting.

FMJ is one of the greatest films ever made. It captures the tragedy of the war, whilst displaying its bizarre innocence at the same time. Hats off to Kubrick. I rarely would take such a strong line but: if you don`t agree, watch it again. If you still don`t agree, you`re an idiot. The End.

very nice uzo, but why take the whole thing so seriously? couldn`t this movie just be a movie and not an entire abstract message? i like your point but you kinda bashed on that dude about the realistic thing, which to me is no big deal at all, at least he`s commenting.
