Now you tell me.
I have a conviction on my record at the age of 9 years. YES nine years old! Because I told the truth to a Cop who wanted to make up his numbers for that month. I also got a caution for reporting a missing VED disc, Cops are the pond life of the sewer.

I would not piss in their mouths if their teeth were on fire.

The ACLU has a guide for dealing with police officers, even when you`re guilty. There is an ex-DEA agent, Barry Cooper, who is making videos showing how to avoid or evade possession/trafficking charges.

I deeply appreciate the American legal system, and that it is an adversarial system. It means that people who have something to hide will be pursued and the innocent should be able to avoid false convictions if they`re smart. And that`s the key, just don`t be stupid. Cops are given too much power in both directions, to protect and to persecute.

At the end of the day, the message to take home from this is that the police have to prove that you`re guilty of a crime if you`re a suspect. They will eventually have to present any evidence they have, and it`s in your best interest to begin by refuting the evidence, not providing them with any information to strengthen their case or discredit your own testimony.

Cops are just trying to get up in ranks and fill their quota`s nothing more, nothing less. Like I mentioned in the part 1, I will never speak to officers and still haven`t till that day and what I have experienced.

Well, if you`ve done something to make them look at you as a suspect, then you`d better get a lawyer so you don`t get taken advantage of. Simple as that, these guys are paid to get criminals off the street and get convictions, not to see if you`re innocent. They`re job is to see if you`re guilty, so as much as it bothers me to hear some of the stuff he said, I totally agree. If there is a the slightest possibility that you`re guilty and you are a suspect do not talk to the police.

Flynn_2006-
My dad is a retired Oregon State Trooper.
The funny thing, my dad always told me " Never talk to the press", cause they will twist your words and hang you out to dry just as much as the police will.
More to the point, at the beginning of our country, we DID NOT HAVE POLICE. People protected themselves from crime and either killed the bad guy themselves or captured them for the sherrif to take before the court system.
If only the same were still true today! We would not need the Patriot Act, or the Brady Bill, or the thousands of other laws that only impede the law abiding because criminals already don`t care anyway. The best terrorism defense isn`t more spying laws or more cops. It`s knowing that most adults(the militia) are packing firearms and that they would be cut down before they got 5 rounds off. We would not need to be in Iraq. We could care less about Iran. 9-11 would not have happened if people on those planes had firearms.

Counterpoint:

I was investigated for a crime. My wife and I were aprehended and interviewed seperately, me as the suspect, her as a voluntary witness with an obvious motive to exonnerate me. In this case, I was accused of something by another person, there was absolutely no other physical evidence, just a complaint. The complaint alone was enough to convict me.

I went in fully aware of "the rule". But I talked anyways. We (wife and I) both told the same detailed story, that story explained exactly what had really happened, and how I was clearly innocent. It was very obvious that the whole thing was a huge suprise to us, we had no idea going in that the complaint had been made (nothing had happened after all), the entire investigation had been completely unknown to both of us, and we obviously had no prepared falsehoods or cover stories.

If I had not talked to the cops immidiately, then the unspoiled story could not have been acertained. It was central to the dismissal of my charges that our testimony was absolutely consistant with each other in a way that could not be faked. That was recorded evidence that they couldn`t take back, I would have used it at trial. I can sure tell you I was extremely thankfull to the police for the incredible care they took with the investigation and our aprehension, because they were extremely carefull to allow our statements to corroborate my innocence with no possibility of collusion. It was explicit in their stance that we could not have made up a cover story, because we had absolutely zero forewarning, and were immediately seperated without any opportunity to talk.

I don`t know what defference there is in the Candian system, but it was obvious that the cops were just as interested in the truth of the matter, as they were in finding me guilty of the complaint. They weren`t dropping the ball, but they were protecting me as much as the supposed victim. The entire thing was conducted with amazing care to that end.

So in the end, in this (probably) rare case, I walked free, and the charges were dropped, because I took the calculated chance and talked to the police, and proved my own innocence. And that would not have happened, and I would have gone to jail (guaranteed), based on the complaint (which was pretty damning).

These guys leave out the possibility of time sensitive, circumstance sensitive situations, especially likely with multiple witnesses/suspects and their corroborating evidence. It`s a real factor. And although it`s far from neat and tidy and black and white, it happens sometimes. I have to ask how many people the police send home, because they figure out right away they are innocent. They stop investigating. They don`t accidentally/randomly find corroborating evidence of something you didn`t do. I am sure that if the cops stop looking, there`s less chance of them finding out anything.

So if you`re innocent, and you absolutely know you can prove it, then doing so quickly could be in your favor, if it sets the hellounds off the wrong trail. It`s just not all black and white.

I would have more respect for this vid (still got 5/5) if the guy had talked about that. It`s not very encouraging that even lawyers don`t rate the respect to comprehind the subtleties and nuances of possibility, and instead get fed absolutist examples. My case proved to me that exceptions happen. If you really care, be prepared for them.

Here`s how you get out of any crime:

DONT DO THEM! GET A JOB! If you are working your a$$ off all the time you come home too tired to do stupid stuff. It`s the people collecting welfare who are perfectly capable of working that are doing this crap. I see it where I live all the time. These people spend all of their effort on finding ways to beat the system when if they took half that energy to become educated and find a decent job they would`nt have to worry about ever being "interviewed" by the police. I did alot of things when i was much younger, and I paid for them all. I made the conscious decision to stop being a moron and since then whenever I see a cop pull up behind me my pulse does`nt even shift. Why? because I know I`ve got my crap together.
