I`m Atheist and I agree with what I saw, but I`m giving this 0.5/5 because of the music.

It`s a good message, I`d have to agree with that.
However, a common mistake is to see Atheism as a religion, while it is in fact the opposite. Therefor it does not have commandments, sins or any other religious laws.

Atheism is nothing more, nothing less, than the personal conviction that there is no superior deity.

"THOU SHALT NOW BELIEVE ANYTHING ON FAITH"

If people never had faith in the unexplained, we wouldn`t have half of the breakthroughs in science. That "Commandment" is bullshit.

Do we not have "faith" that some day we will find a cure for Aids or Cancer?

We do not know for sure that there is a cure for some diseases. It is faith that there is such a cure that will someday find that cure if it exists.

So, that would be the only one I disagree with.

How about alternative fuels. Do some not have the belief in a renewable fuel that is eco friendly? Such a fuel may not exist...but that doesn`t mean we should stop believing it.

We cannot disprove that there is no higher power, so I don`t understand why people who have faith in it get so much flack.

It seems to me that atheists simply refuse to believe anything that has not been proven, but without faith in the unknown...you would never find out anything.

God or any higher power is an unknown. If people want to have faith in it, don`t give them shit just because it hasn`t been proven one way or the other.

Now, if you can give me proof that we are the only beings in the entire universe, then I will concede my belief in a higher power. Until then, I will have faith that we are not responsible for our surroundings and whatever is responsible has greater powers than I do.

That is pretty much as far as it will go for me. I do not believe that any higher power actually has a set of guidelines that we must follow.

It has been people throughout history with faith in the unexplained that have given us the answers to so many questions. Without faith, we stop growing as a people.

^ I think you missed the "blind" part of that faith. Your arguments about "faith" seem to be all based upon logic and reason - you make a statement, and then by logical extrapolation infer a secondary statement from that.

Blind faith is making the secondary statement without a starting point, to say something "just is because so there ha ha I`m right". *Blind* faith is to have no evidence, no proof, and no logic/reason for something being true.

Dude, you newtered your own arguments by trying to seem intelligent and wowing us with your logic. Congratulations. The whole point is that *blind* faith is illogical.

Well-done. Can`t argue with that. 5/5

Though we don`t really need 10 commandments. Everything can pretty much be summed up in one; the Golden Rule, "Do Unto Others as you would have them do unto you."

Greeks like Democritus and Epicurus (among others) didn`t require any belief in gods, one way or the other, to see the wisdom of the Golden Rule thousands of years ago. Rabbi Hillel famously summed up all of Judaism with it (again saying nothing about "God"). Hobbes, Locke and other luminaries made it a central theme of the Enlightenment.

Yes, snarky folks like to bring up the possibility of sado-masochists, believing it poses a problem for the rule. But it doesn`t; treat the S&M fetishist with the same respect you`d treat anyone with any taste or preference, extreme or mainstream - by asking them what they want and giving it to them (or at least not forcing things on them they don`t want).

Pretty simple stuff. Think we can manage that, finally?

Ooookay, once again other atheists go YAY! while people who either a) are religious or b) keep their faith to themselves, have someones generalized interpretation of life thrust in front of them with a "take it or you`re less than me" attitude.

Hows this sound, if you REALLY feel something deep inside you, be it jesus, allah, or the feeling of NO god, keep it inside and cherish it, instead of making it cheap by trying to spread it`s word.

Faith and love are actions, not words. Character is what you do in the dark when no one can see.

Yes, i could have no clicked the link, but i`ve seen an influx of atheist vids these days and i had to get that off the ol` chest.

Anywho, seacrest OUT!

^ Sammersd, us atheists and agnostics have put up with far more than enough religion bullshit for us to take you with a straight face. In fact, fuck off. You want to play that tired old violin of "too much atheism", well, wake the fuck up and start with the 18 gajillion Christian fanatic born again TV and radio shows, and the Gidgeons in hotels, and the even worse JoHo`s. aaaaggghhhhhh.

5/5 and cheers to all of us owning our own fucking morality, no matter what "beliefs". And for sharing it equally, voluntarily, and without need of punishments and authority. That`s evolution and real human progress IMHO. It`s about bloody time this important wisdom gets unplugged from religion and goes viral.

Add:

Do what you will, but harm none.
-or-
An` it harm none, do what ye will. (original old English)

I think the old Wiccan rule very wisely stikes the ballance between freedom and ethics, with appropriately equal weight to both. My personal fave, although I couldn`t get much farther from being a Wiccan in "spirituality" (whatever that is).

COMPASSION.

Sorry exploder, i didn`t realize that a difference of opinion would cause an atheist to lash out in rage/righteous fury. I assumed they were rational and open minded unlike religious organizations.

I retract my statement.

And i can out play the devil with my violin bitch....
