I wonder what it`s like inside a catholic school? I wonder if they teach about the "Lesser" religions and cultures.

Has anyone been through Catholic school who can tell me?

I like the side stepping the teacher did at the end. Sure some validity, but when he asks you a straight question, give an example to support yourself.

I went to a Christian school, we were taught about other religions but there was no suggestion that they were less valid than Christianity. I ended up an atheist for many reasons including reading the Bible!

Religion has no place in schools anyway, never mind as the focal point. Kids are supposed to be learning about maths, science and languages, not the quickest way to close their minds.

As soon as I read the title, I knew it was gonna be a muslim school, catholics would never get away with this and jews probably wouldn`t bother. I can see how people would view certain religions as being better than others, islam and to a lesser extent, christianity, are constantly embarrassing themselves.

You really have to wonder about all this political correctness bullshit. Are governments really afraid of offending people? Or is it just good to have trouble makers around in order to advance the "Big Brother" agenda?

i went to a roman catholic school... although they teach stories in the bible that sound kind of silly.... religion has made me a better person(keep in mind im not christian or anything)... but these stories have in them more then just making us believe in jesus... it teaches us to be unselfish and caring.... it taught me morals that i can follow in life

for example... a man slaps jesus on the face.... jesus turns the other side of his face towards the man...moral of the story? that revenge doesn`t solve any problems and violence is unnecessary

stories like these don`t try to "brainwash" us....it teaches us to be a good citizen in society and good person in general...

again... i like to emphasize I AM NOT CATHOLIC OR BELIEVE IN ANY GOD.... just want to point out that religion does teach people to be moral human beings... and it does teach kids to grow up with a kind of discipline that makes them nice people... (in my opinion... somethings parents cannot sometimes teach...either because of ethnic background or lack of knowledge or your parents are just plain prejudice... no offense to anyones parents... cause i have greedy and racist chinese parents hahaha)

u don`t necessarily have to "BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF CHRIST" wen your in a catholic school... they give u a choice...an option... i wrote a paper about how i don`t like the teachings of catholicism... and i still got an A-... =p

i`ve been in a catholic school... i know what catholicism is all about... i know how they influence the kids... they give u a choice.... i choose not to believe in christ.... but i left the school with moral principles that i can follow


HOWEVER....there are radical catholics or EXTREME catholics out there that are ignorant assholes... one of them being a teacher in my school... there just ruining and twisting catholic teachings

Ive been to a Christian school when i was 8 or 9 not so sure only went there for like a semester i think. But fucking christ it was horrible singing gay fucking songs and always ppl referncing the damn bible i couldnt take it anymore and i remember i made up a story about playing with the Uiji Board i dont know how the fuck u spell it but the teachers told the principle and they even brought my mother in and it was a big fucking scandal yeah good ol times

If you pick the right parts out from the bible, you can find some nice morals. I`d like to see the reaction from parents if their kids were being taught about stoning women to death on their wedding night if they aren`t virgins.

The fact is that the code of morals presented in the Bible is far outdated by modern civilization. For all its nice messages, the bible still condones slavery, homophobia and treating women as currency.

As for schools themselves, you could argue that they should teach morals, but I don`t think cherry picking fairy tales is the best way to do that.

ur reference from Exodus and Deuteronomy is from the Old Testament... its was written by jewish scholars way b4 jesus existed...i wud guess its around 2 or 3000 B.C?... back then it was just a set of rules jewish people in that time to followed...im not jewish so i dunt noe much about whether if they still teach these rules....(im pretty sure jewish people dont follow them anymore... but its just my opinion)

eventhough its in the bible... christianity focuses on the "New Testament" (when jesus was alive)... the main distinction between Jews and Christians are that Jews believe jesus was a prophet... not the "son of god"...and jesus changed (or updated) some of the old laws ... for example "love thy neighbor"... "treat others the same way u want to be treated"...thats another reason why jews and christians dont get along because jesus was changing stuff... and thers an obvious reason y its called the "OLD" Testament and y the new and the old are separate... its in the bible cuz it provides a kind of history and wisdom for christians (note: jesus was jewish not christian... christianity was established after jesus died... thus chirstianity orginated from jews)... however, christians still kept some of ther beliefs in the old testament...stories like Noah`s Ark and the Seven days of creation... cuz jesus didnt change these stories... he only changed the laws

ur basing ur ideas from the Zeitgeist documentary?.... Ther are alota holes in ther claims... for example... thers no evidence that horus was born of a virgin mother or born on dec 25.... try googling or do some research of the other gods mentioned and ull see they dunt match wats being said...

Reffering to what blue_devil said I think Religion should be banned full stop...not just from schools.

If you look at things like astrological history you`ll see that the Bible and other Religious scripts are purely made up of stories to explain things that primative people couldn`t understand. The reason they did this was because they did not have the technology to show these things but now we do so there is no need for religion anymore...it`s just become a giant game of Chinese Whispers and people have misinterpretted these stories from mythological religions and created new religions.

In Christianity for example if you read the bible there is a part where Jesus says "When I am gone go into town and seek a man bearing water and he will look after you" (Or something along those lones). Well the symbol of Jesus was a fish and if you look at Astrology, the years 0 to 33ad (The life of Jesus) are actually the age of Pisces (The Fish...coincidence?) and the age after that is the age of Aquarius, which is represented by a man bearing water. You may think this is just a coincidence like I said but it also says that Jesus said "I will be with you until the end of aeon" which people mis-translate the word "aeon" as "time" when really it actually trabslates as "age" ie the end of the age of Pisces, which is exactly what it was.
Another point is the fact that Jesus is always pictured with a halo, and a lot of the time with his apostles around him. Well this is actually a representation of the Sun and the 12 stages of the equinox, which is why people think of Jesus as the Son (of God) rather than the Sun what is what he actually represents.

Anyway I could go on for pages about this, I just hope that I`ve given you all some insight and encouraged you all to look into the matter a little further for yourselves rather than dismissing what I say as bullshit and reverting back the good old Christian phrase "My religion is based on Faith, I need no proof"...well I have some news for you my friends...if you look just a little bit closer you`ll see that your so called Faith very closely resembles what I like to call...IGNORANCE! ;), Peace dudes!
