The real thing is much more horrific.

It`s an interesting time in history to see the American Empire grow up, and struggle between the will to good, and the inevitable pressures of forcefull corruption.

A baby can drown in 2 inches of water. People die drowning in their own vomit sometimes. Placing a person on their backs inclined as he was - everyone put in that situation could be at risk of drowning. It would turn your throat into a trap for the water just like that U shaped thing under everyones kitchen and bathroom sinks. That U shaped thing holds just enough water to send the sewer gases up the vent instead of into the house. Put just enough water on a person like that and hold their head in place, they could drown.

*EDIT - If you want to know what simulated drowning is. Go take a shower. Face the shower head and bow your head down. Let all the water stream down your face. Now, breathe through your nose for me. That`s simulated drowning. Waterboarding is drowning.

That was horrible. Does anyone know if they played this on TV? I haven`t been living in the US for about a year, so I haven`t been up to date on what`s going on with TV here. More people need to see this.

Of course its torture. I think the average American knows its torture, they just want to pretend like it isn`t. Just like we pretend iraq was about democracy and not about oil. I have a hunch deep down, the average americans would torture a man if they think it would prevent another 9/11.

Its rumored that these techniques were used on known al qaeda members, some directly involved in the 9/11 planning and logistics. Its also rumored that they got valuable information that lead to the capture of more members.

Look, I`m against the Iraq war, but not against the war in Afghanastan against the taliban and Al Qaeda. I have a hunch these techniques were used immediatly after 9/11 in order to track down the rest of the network.

This aint exactly a black and white situation here. Just ask yourself, if you were FBI or CIA and 9/11 just happened a couple days ago, would you torture someone to find out if there were more terrorists about to attack?

You know drowning is an autonomic response closing off your throat opening preventing water from enter the lungs. You mostly die from the lack of oxygen instead of the water. Once the muscle`s relax (because you are either dead or unconscious), water then cascades in. It`s terrible to drown.

sc2000, torture is known to extract unreliable information. People being tortured will admit to crimes they didn`t commit, tell you about situations that will not happen, just to get them to stop being tortured. Psychologists know this, the CIA knows this. The only point of torture is intimidating others and the sick will of the people who like to do it.

This is not an episode of 24. Ignorant assholes seem to forget about reality - a lot of americans, including yourself.
