There are Dutch MPs who are endeavouring to restrict marijuana cultivation, however, and are proposing steps that could endanger the coffee shops.

The centre-right, Christian Democrat government that has been in power since Balkenende was elected PM in `02 (and their spineless coalition partners) have already reduced the Red Light District. They want to diminish sexual/personal freedoms even more. They think people will come to Holland just to tour the dairies and visit the museums. They are ignorant of the fact that those activities are only bearable when you are high and have had a good blow job.
