The point is to aid in building 3-D Geometry and manipulating the enviromnent based on what the input device sees. Visual recognition is a technology is still very much in its infancy and it would be great to see it in practice for everyday applications.

The possible uses include artificial intelligence research, mapping for video games, possibly creating dynamic interactive holographs projected into actual space and many more.

Omnicron.4735 : the point? your perhaps the most short sighted moron?

Imagine mortal kombat - crap 2D real life implemented with 2D graphics.
NOW imagine a game where people film real environements (think Indian Jones) then place 3D models inside.
Would make a killer 1st person engine imo.

This is brilliant! Imagine having a virtual reality headset on. You could be running around your house in real time shooting computer added monsters or zombies that have `broken in`.

I wanted to see people fall of the edge, or for cartman to be flipped off the keyboard when the keyboard is moved. NOT when they put their hand over the keyboard, cartman stays in the same place, just now on top of the hand.
