1492 Tribute

"Centuries before the exploration of space, there was another voyage into the unknown." Tribute to Ridley Scott's 1992 movie "1492: Conquest of Paradise". It moves slowly, but manages to capture the beautiful cinematography of the film. (Video by Mart138.)

Very nice video, and the music matches it perfectly. I`ve neither seen nor heard of this movie. May be worth a look?

Although successful colonization and tremendous courage, Columbus is anything but the first European to set foot in north American continent. The Vikings did it in year 1000 A.D. Leif Erikson all the way.

Fact: most of the penal colony population out of Europe settled in North America-- not Australia..

Fact 2: Recently governmental spokepersons started calling the native people "Aboriginal" rather than "Indian" 500 years later realized that colonizers were not in India.

Fact 3: Christopher Columbus was a butcher, he also kidnapped aboriginals to bring back to Spain just so he can prove there were other people-- most aboriginals died on their kidnapped voyage..

Fact 4: Eurocentrism Sucks and is still a persistent ideology. There should be film tribute to Aboriginal people for the medicine and astronomical mathematics that has been ignored for centuries.

Columbus was a tool. He didn`t do shit, all the work was done by other people. He took all the credit, but at least he died penniless in a jail cell.

movie looks nice, but it wasn`t really unknown territory if people were living there for 10 thousand or more years already
