Ah, the good old days of English comedy. These days the sketch shows start well by taking a funny character and/or situation but then quickly go down hill by being lazy and just repeating the same characters/jokes each episode (just with various subtle differences) so that what started out as funny quickly becomes lame. (Little Britain for example)

Fun fact is that this sketch actually put professional darts into a decline in popularity because people thought of it as a dirty sport for drunks. so due to this very sketch they banned the consumption of alcohol while playing darts.
