man as if you got voted down for that. I totally agree, black was the last good album. they got more technical with the newqer stuff and its harder to play.. that all means shit with me. I miss the old hard Metallica. I think they lost it when they cut their hair.

It`s called becoming old...you can`t expect 40 year-old guys to have the same level of energy, hormones, and angst as 20 year-olds. It was bound to happen...pussification. But, their first five albums are enough to keep me entertained for quite some time. I`m not expecting a full-blown regression to pre-load Metallica for their newest endeavor. I sure hope it`s better than St. Anger, however.

As for James` voice...he can`t sing like he used to cause he fucked up his vocal chords from all the screaming and growling he used to do. He has to falsetto a whole lot now and it sucks balls.

By the way, this band was the reason I picked up a guitar and learned to play, and after listening to the black album for the first time, back when I was 15 or so, I knew after about 15 seconds that I had finally found a music genre that really got to me and was instantly attracted to.

Lars will always be good as long as he never uses a tin can drum kit again.

But they`re too old. They can`t play their own stuff as good anymore.

They shoulda retired and stopped. And wtf is with the bassist. ugh, I miss Jason in the band.

metallica going to shit has nothing to do with age. Look at slayer. metallica went to shit because of bob rock and the almighty dollar. They can still kick ass if they want to, but after years of bob rock brainwashing them, I doubt it.

Admittedly i wasn`t keen on their new look in Load but the album was just ok, nothing great and so was Re-Load and i can look past their haircut and all as they`re not as young as they used to be.

The one thing that put me off listening to them was when James` voice started to lose the grunt and became this wailing, weak, ass version of how his voice used to sound like. I can`t give James the benefit of the doubt on account of his age as many other metal/rock vocalists who are pushing 50/60 i.e David Coverdale, Dio etc and their voices still sound the way it did when they were younger. And when they released St. Anger, i thought it was the worst album they`ve ever done. The guitars sound weak, the riffs were unimaginative, bass was barely audible, James` was still singing in that whiny voice, Lars drums sound like he was banging on some steel barrels and last but not least, dumb lyrics.

And then this video, to be honest I personally am glad that James` voice is not as whiny as before and the grunt has partially returned. I hope he keeps this up and Metallica go on to make an album that is along the lines of their older material but with a modern feel.

SERIOUSLY I loved Metallica and no some fan-boy bullshit i learned ALOT of their stuff on guitar....
THIS version of them is complete shite. They lost ALLL sense of uniqueness and have become as bad as any other shit band.
Dont give me his voice sounds good. Listen to Battery and then listen to St-anger. Youll see.

were u referring to me or grumpybear? cause if u were referring to me i never once said that his voice in St Anger sounds good and with relations to this video, all i said was i was glad his voice is not as whiny (doesn`t mean that it`s not whiny at all) and that the grunt has partially returned.
if u WERE referring to grumpy then use your arrows properly cause 2 arrows up would indicate that u`re talking to me. either way i agree with what u said.
