I still don`t understand what is so "amazing" bout this process. A smaller version of the whale popped out of the strained, stretched vagina of the mother followed by an eruption of blood.

Someone enlighten me.

^^There are several amazing things about it:

First of all, you are seeing life happen. This isn`t one of those cup toys where each one hold a smaller one. This is a living creature that developed for months in a process in which a billion and a half things can go wrong.

Secondly, the creature`s ability to know exactly what to do immediately after birth is simply unexplainable. I am aware it is instinct, but the fact that this whale knows to swim "up" for air or a baby deer can walk within minutes of being born is breath-taking to me. Sure it`s instinctual, but it is so incredibly fast. It takes humans almost 2 years to walk.

So while your understanding of what just transpired may be face value and defined by only what you see, many other people can see what is really happening.

^ While true, I`ve seen the process of what happens when something -does- go wrong. We`re all quick to forget about that.

And it is explainable, even you admit it`s instinct. And the capabilities of a newborn and its genetic, acquired behavior for survival after being born is indeed impressive. As you said, it`s breathtaking.

Which is fine, but it still doesn`t answer my question as to what is amazing about birth. Well, you partially did in your "first" statement. There`s nothing "miraculous" about birth, and I fail to find what is amazing about it. I`ve also seen it go wrong, too.

So my question yet stands.
