wouldn`t it be a hassle to make a starmap for interstellar travel? the light you see from the nearby stars are years old, and the ones across the galaxy are a hundred+ thousands of years old, so they`re already in a different position than when the light reaches your eyes. the starmap would have to take into account the motion of all objects, and there could be unknown influences that may have caused stars and planets to move differently than from your calculations.

There is alot of shit out there coming at us and we are still so narrow minded that we see terrorism as a threat. What are 6 billion people compared to over 6 billion galaxys? Nothing. We are nothing more than a needle in a haystack, wait...Even less.
If you have no idea about Astronomy I dare you to watch this documentary, it explains the basics and beyond.
Thanks fo the upload Drue! If you have some more, upload it!
But still there is one question where I can get no real answer for: Where did the "Big Bang" come from? I just know that there were some atoms and then "boom" but where did they come from? My theory for that is that we are here because something/someone wanted us to. Not God but maybe something Alien. I mean if we would have the year 3 billion something and had the technology to create a universe we would do it just to see what happens. Another fact that irritates me is that hydrogen is so common in our universe, why is that? What about life based on other chemical components? Yeah, as I said before Im pretty far out there =)
I would like to know the oppinion of the SH community on this, where are all the comments? I mean we are living here and dont we always talk about life and all its miracles? Come on SH community! Comment your own thoughts/theories on all this. Im interested in other peoples thoughts on this because when I talk about this to some people I know they just look at me like a dog thats just been shown a card trick (Yeah I know, Bill Hicks quote xd )

the chance of human life existing for more than 5 millions years is almost impossilbe if you ask me, we cant even look after our planet or exist without killing each other, and thers also commets, super novas and other space related natural disaters that could wipe our race out in seconds

Why do science documentaries always have to give us a hundred layman`s analogies? I`m insulted.

Darkslide there was absolute zero before the big bang, meaning there was no atoms and if there is no atoms thats absolute zero as soon as 1 atom appeared it created the big bang. Thats also why i believe we can never reach absolute zero.

^your quite off...

The big bang started off as the universe in a state of singularity. Everthing in the universe compressed to an infinitely small size. All matter, all space is within this singularity and nothing exists outside it. what cause the singularity to expand in what is known as the "big bang"? We don`t know.

anyways i`m off to contemplate about the ambiguity of human existence.

^deadheatperth, you`re wrong. The term absolute zero is referring to a temperature of absolutely zero, or the presence of no energy. And the big bang did not occur because of the appearance of one atom. Actually, an unimaginable amount of smaller bits of matter were created before they came together to become the first atoms. But there was so much energy present immediately after the big bang that atoms could not have held together.
