A new robot modelled after a grasshopper can jump higher than any robot ever has before. (If you look closely - Gary Coleman from Diff'rent Strokes can be seen inside the robot.)

I`d say this robot could probably be much better at gathering information than any single large robot. If you can get a thousand of these to land on a planet and gather information, I`d think you could expose any life smart enough to be scared by an army of robotic crickets.

awanis: Probably not very high at all. The force of impact when landing, the power needed to eject into the air and the weight of the thing would simply not be any where near the same proportions that the smaller design has. It would probably jump twice it height and then just smash to pieces when hitting the ground.

You guys aren`t thinking with your heads. Just imagine your in an earthquake and you end up in a big ass hole because the ground split into two. Now imagine them throwing you a few of these bad boys down there to hop your ass out of there. I can imagine so many possiblities of these things coming in handy to save a life...
