Tae Kwon Do v. Kickboxer

Not 100% certain the other guy`s a kickboxer, but I believe that`s correct. If you want to go straight to the action, ff to approx. 1:15. I couldn`t find it on SH, so if this is a repost, my apologies.

wow, the other guy really did not see that coming. I think this is the only time I`ve seen someone doing tae kwon do actually not have his ass kick. But I suppose Korean and North American tae kwon do are very different beasts.

He didn`t know wether to bow or touch gloves. By the time he figured it out he was already in la la land.

cheap shot of the day goes to the tko guy kicking someone who was bowing (honorable thing to do and real martial arts not MMA boxing fighting bs that martial arts was never created for)

Ninjzz: Martial art was created for fighting. If you look into most martial arts they teach to strike when and where your opponent is weak. If you opponent has his guard down, you strike, doesn`t matter why he let it down.

Honor doesn`t win fights.

I`ve done a couple of years of taekwondo and it`s absolutely fantastic for fitness, strength and flexibility. But absolutely useless in tight confined spaces. Most of the time TKD fighters get their arse handed to them by MMA. The surprise KO is basically the only chance they`ve got because if they face a tight defence and end up on the mat - fight over.

TKD is brilliant as a sport though.

That was a great kick. I half expected him to say "tatsu-maki-sen-pu-kikku!!" mid way. Except usually that doesn`t end the fight. And Ninjzz .. huh? The match had begun. The dude got nailed `cause he wasn`t expecting that attack, not because the fight hadn`t started.

Seriously though, I don`t think you`re that stupid. You must be purposefully saying that so that you get voted down and gain notoriety as being "most voted down guy for saying shit before he watched the clip twice".

Damnit. That accolade is MINE!

^^ this guy wasnt MMA. or he was terrible. A good MMA figther will rush a TKD the second he comes at him. TKD is useless once you are inside their strike range. its just so easy to rush in like an idiot covering yourself. Its alllll about knowing what to do with the other person in close quarters.

Hm.

Seen several videos on the net like this. The last one I saw was in Japan and the Karate(japanese)guy easily beat the supposed "Chinese Kung Fu" Guy, who obviously didn`t know anything about Kung Fu except how to look like he did, and actually looked japanese(and probably was). The jap easily won, taking no hits from his opponent. Then all the japs at that fight acted surprised, like they were amazed that their national art was after all superior. This was televised. A real Chinese Kung Fu person would have crushed that spin kicking fool, especially if it was the Shaolin style he was claiming it to be. National pride rubbish

Another vid pit a gracie against a supposed "Kung Fu guy" who was american. Again the people filming were obviously on the side of the fighter meant to win.

Now we see here a fight in korea emphasizing korean martial art tkd. This has the same crap written all over it. The supposed Muay Thai guy looks korean, not thai, and he also looks completely unprepared for a serious fight, something legitimate Thai boxer wouldn`t be. Muay Thai has a large emphasis on blocks, and isn`t unfamiliar with flying attacks, as they use flying knees, elbows, etc., and naturally have incorporated blocks for these kinds of moves into their style. And just like those other vids, they cut to the audience, who all appear stunned, and for this one even have some audience members who are laughing. Teehee! They all look guilty

Here we go again. The usual SH debate of what kicks whats butt. The only thing we got here is someone who looks like he was bowing or attempting to tough gloves before starting. Oops. You see it in soccer matches too. PLayer goes down due to a nasty tackle and a team stops play for the injured except the other team continues to play and scores.

I think `OldHungry` is completely right with his observation of this vid and videos like it. I`ve seen quite a few martial arts videos that were clearly set up to promote a particular style. It`s usually a Japanese martial art against Chinese or Thai martial art.

yes the guy puts his hand out to tap gloves, but you can clearly see he raises them back up to try and defend the kick. He just fails miserably.
Martial arts all depends on who is teaching it and the person practicing. A round kick is a round kick in any martial art. Its just in tkd, kung fu, and karate it is done with accuracy and form, in muay thai its just done for power.

Just cuz this took place in Korea doesnt mean for a second it was rigged. Those of you familiar with the popularity of K-1 in Korea and the many kickboxing shows on TV will know that this is not the case. Korea has put forth many great fighters into kickboxing competitions AND trust me Koreans know that you can`t fight in these events the same way you fight in a TKD fight. Anyone who believes that PEOPLE actually believe they can fight in a kickboxing match without hands are idiots. Sorry...this is so frustrating anytime a TKD fighter outclasses any other style of fighter its "rigged" for Korean shows. Fact is, it isn`t.

The only rigging I know of was in K-1 Max like 2004 where Japanese producers claimed a Korean kickboxer was actually a Taekwondo fighter to garner popularity in Korea. The rest...the TKD fighter happened to be a better fighter. The fighters determine the fight, not the style.
