I used to just live as I was shown ... then after seeing how many things were wrong in life, I decided to start looking to our primitive ancestry ... how did they live? How did they survive well enough for us to be here now? What do we really NEED to live well?

We don`t have to give up our lifestyles, we just have to refine them and find balance.

Our primitive ancestors had an average lifespan of 25 years. Today, we live three times as long.

Living well, in my opinion, is far more about the quality of your life than the quantity of it. Sure, if eating broccoli and tofu makes you happy, go for it. But why deny yourself life`s pleasures just because some health nut tells you that`s the path to "living well?"

Unlike so many romantics who look to our primitive (and not so primitive) ancestors thru rose-colored glasses, the fact is
life was pretty rough for most of them.

Ok think of it like this:

Someone gets pleasure from drugs. They want drugs. They enjoy drugs. They use drugs a lot. They then have health problems, comedowns and various other roadblocks on the way to feeling good.

Should that person have allowed their mind to want drugs? Or should they have found different (and most likely harder) methods of achieving the release of good emotions?

It`s the same principle applied to food ... why go for the easy drug-like foods found at Maccas when you can find alternatives and feel good all the time?

Quality of life is now as well, and poor foods will not help the quality of your life beyond enjoying the taste for a whole of 5 minutes. I love what I eat, so I enjoy it for 5 minutes, and then feel great for the next hours to come.

Rep
lying to EckJerome about the life expectency altough I don´t understand why he is stating that quality is better than quantity when clearly the video is explaining that, and I´m not sure what kind of vision you have on healthy food and lifes pleasures.

The video in the link is part of the Made Easy series, this one isn´t about nutrition but does state (around 6mins in the video) that our ancestors lived to be grandparents.

Human bodies are evolved to thrive on meat and plants. Those are the food sources that were available to humans up until these infernal craniums got big enough to begin agriculture -- but not enough time has passed for humans to change what their bodies thrive on. Meat and fat are not the culprits -- carbs are. Sugar, starch, and refined carbs are metabolic poison. I agree people need to eat lots and lots of plants, and a few fruits (very few), but I disagree there is any reason to avoid meat. The problem is when you put meat inside sugary, starchy bread. Hamburger buns have the same metabolic effect as eating a piece of cake.

What u r saying is true Stretch, people should only eat whole grain breads and complex carbohydrates, however meat is also a big culprit for the overall poor health of today. When my father was younger he would eat meat maximum 2 times a week and that was basically the case worldwide, however as the food business grew it began to indoctrinate people into believing meat and dairy are the best an only source of health. These food sources are now mass produced and therefore full of chemicals, hormones and medicines which are then absorbed by ur own body, the animal is unhealthy and therefore whoever eats it will take the burden, meat is very hard to digest and puts of stress on the digestive system, it is responsible stomach cancer. the Meat industry also uses a huge amount of grain which could easily be used to put an end to world hunger. there are much healthier alternatives and protein sources such as beans and lentils which are healthier and more ecological.
Im not urging to become vegetarian however i believe it would be much better if ppl cut down their meat consumption to 1 or 2 times a week and become more informed about nutrition dont believe everything corporations tell u

Whether his overall point is right or not he is certainly not scientific about it.
His first statement that `all scientists` are on board with the global warming theory is just not true. It`s not even near being true. About half don`t accept current global warming theory.
Sorry but i can`t let gross misrepresentation like that slide.

Pretty much everyone now has access to information on how to properly feed themselves thanks to the Internet. However, as rising obesity rates show, most people are too lazy or weak-willed to stop eating donuts and pizza as their main source of food.

poit: where`s ur source for that figure on the number of scientists who don`t accept current global warming theory?

on the video (and other related issues)... is anyone else starting to think this place just has too many people?

Poit is technically right. While you`d be hard-pressed to find scientists that refute data on average surface temperature trends, the theory of "Global Warming by greenhouse-effect (specifically CO2)" is not generally accepted among scientists who actually specialize in fields related to it.

There are many inconsistencies in what you`d expect to find if it were true and what is actually observed. One of them is the problem of atmospheric temperature data compared to surface temps: the idea behind the greenhouse effect is that gasses accumulate in the atmosphere that heat up directly from the sun`s rays and then a 2nd time when some of the radiation reflects off the earth, the gasses heat up, and the heat radiates back down to the surface, raising temps. According to this model, you`d expect the rate of temp increase in the atmosphere to be higher than on the surface, but the exact opposite is observed (NASA has charts that log both atmospheric temps and surface temps over time- they`re the same ones that Gore cherrypicked to support his carbon-economics). Sorry I don`t have link to those, I found them once on their site after reading about this in Michael Crichton`s book `State of Fear` and wanted to verify it- it was a PITA to find, but turned out to be supported by those charts.

EckJerome ... life`s pleasures , where do you get them from ? and don`t say that that is stuff that you like , i think that is stuff that you are learning to like , and you can teach yourself to like other stuff just as well , and you`re talking about our ancestors ,,, those guys ate meat like that whole planet was goung to explode any second now ... morning , noon , evening , meat , and most of it was RAW ... there`s your 25 year life span , honestly , i am the last person to preach about healthy food , but i do notoce all the crap that i eat and drink take it`s toll on me , and i am honestly trying to do something along the lines of what this guy is talking about . Quality of live "as you put it" shsouldn`t be based on what you consume ,, but rather what you produce , what you have to offer and to people around you , and what keeps you happy , and in terms of food , i did notice that HEALTHY INDEED EQUALS HAPPY.enjoy life my friends , it`s not a long one :)
