You are watching "LAPES" drops. Which are low altitude and are not used any longer. There were way to many accidents. Now what they do is land and drop gear at a roll or they drop it from higher altitudes. LAPES have been evolving since World War II. The ability to put man and machine behind enemy lines very quickly is worth a certain amount of loss. Your fighting a war, your not getting coffee and Star Bucks people. Accidents happen daily in the Military.
