This is especially so when hippo calves are around. Hippos have been known to be very aggressive towards humans, and it is often claimed that hippos are the deadliest animal in Africa; however, according to Smithsonian Magazine, while the animal is very dangerous, reliable statistics for this are unavailable.

I saw a show a few years back where a baby hippo was tugging on a crocs tail. The croc just sat there and took it because mama hippo was watching.

you have a far higher chance to be killed by a hippo because they basically share the same environment as humans in Africa... lush areas by water.

hippos have poor eyesight n if u get in between them and the water they will charge at you. 1.5 tonne heading straight towards you at 30mph!
i`ve heard a hippo in one bite cut a croc in half.
