They may have highest pollution now but at least they`ll get 100+mpg car standard before we do. They may also become new world power as they`ll be the new debt collector.

I don`t know what you guys think when you hear about one country "owning" money to another. It is totally different from one person owing money to another.

China decided to buy american dollars because they think it will be good for them in the long run because the american dollar has traditionally been worth alot. This process has a good side effect for americans because the mere act of china buying american dollars increases the value of american dollars. That is the debt. It is not like the president of the US went to china`s central bank and actually took out a loan. Also, EVEN IF THAT WERE THE CASE, which it definitely is NOT, no country ever goes and says " hey assholes, pay us back now. "

Because pissing off another country like that is very bad on many levels, mainly economically, and you never wanna piss off the US like that. Plus, a recollection of debt shrinks the world and national money supplies hugely and nobody wants the US to have a recession.
