All Americans should watch this.

While the stated mission objective of Operation Enduring Freedom was to destroy the al Qaeda`s infrastructure, it is important to point out that "al Qaeda" did not exist. This was a name never used by Osama bin Laden before politicians in Washington invented it. The very translation of the name of our supposed enemy is probably wrong. al Qaeda literally means "the database."

The idiotic neocons thought that because Osama and his minions which the U.S. trained in counterintelligence (the kind used to attack the World Trade Center) referenced this all the time in their communications, that it was the name of a terrorist network. It was the name of a network all right. "The database" refers to the U.S.`s database of names of all our Mujahideen (friends back then) members. They used this database to allow those fighters to communicate with their families in a secure way (through e-mail).

I was shocked that the neocons knew so little about the terrorists we trained to attack us on 9/11, seeing as how they made terrorism their political cash cow. I was not shocked that so many of my U.S. countrymen bought their bullshit hook, line, and sinker. So there you have it.

It`s best not to use al Qaeda in discussing global terrorist networks b/c there is nothing but pure fiction so effectively marketed to the masses. Of course NOW you have extremists claiming fealty to "al Qaeda," but the fact remains the mythical organization was created by deliberately dishonest Republicans for political gain.

I assure you, Osama is very grateful to the neocons and this Administration for elevating his pathetic organization into something he could never have hoped to achieve. Even with his best poker face, Osama could not have bullshitted anyone in that part of the world to believe the capabilities of his organization were as dangerous as the neocons said they were.

I guess it makes sense that they would embellish the threat of Osama bin Laden, so that no one would come to the embarrassing conclusion that we were successfully attacked by such a ragtag bunch of fringe lunatics. I guess it also served their purpose to deflect attention away from Republicans` concerted efforts to drown out all discussions of policy matters in favor of the Monica Lewinski scandal during the time that the 9/11 attacks were being plotted.
