Metacom9: It wouldn`t be murder, as nobody has died. This type of crime has been comitted on number of occasions in the past and is a tough crime to punish.

With most STD`s, they are curable after time and a course of medication. Knowingly passing this on for malicious/revenge purposes would get you a sentence based around an aggravated assault charge.

However, passing a potentially fatal disease such as HIV to another person? Historically, this has brought the person who carried out this act, a charge of GBH (Grevious Bodily Harm). HIV does not kill, AIDS does. No country that I`m aware of can reasonably punish people for conspiracy to cause permanent long term suffering through the spreading of a disease in this manner.

This is still a rare occurence, but laws need to be reviewed to bring a sentence in line with the crime caused by a person who is already potentially dead by proxy.

You should also be aware that there is a certain faction in the gay community of people wanting to catch HIV. It`s a strange sexual turn on for these people to have sex with infected men.

So there you have it - two sides to the coin.

It`s just nasty, which ever way you look at it.
