Sorry, there`s nothing I can do about the quality. This is vintage stuff. But don`t wear headphones cuz the hiss in the video makes it 10X worse.

Of course papa bear was acting civil, it`s not his show. If he started throwing those kinds of fits on Maher`s show, Maher would just throw him out.

Still I think Maher is completely right, why ban some bad things and not other when they are probably equally bad for society? Obesity related desises are the biggest killers today. Fatness costs society severals billions of dollars each year because a fat person cannot work as well as slim people. Most die prematurely which mean that all their future work simply goes away. There are loads of things with the situation which is simply bad for society.

The problem is that it`s probably even more hard to fight than drug use. Drug use goes up when the nation is poorer, fatness work the other way around. The richer the country the fatter the people. A war on fat can only world on a completely national scale where companies works towards a healthier nation together with the government, that those kinds of alliances are simply doomed to fail.

Regarding the quality: This was taped at a time when DVD still cost an arm and a leg, and don`t forget that it took years for people to put a simple record button on the players, and there isn`t something like a DVD-collection of this show. So the only way to get the stuff is either asking whoever owns the original copies, probably ABC, for a "clean" tape(which will probably be rather low quality too) or use 8 year old VHS-tapes which have seen better days.

The richer the country the fatter the people... BULLSHIT... obviously you`ve never been to Japan. One of the richest countries in the world and fat people are much rarer than in the US. If you ask me it`s just American`s poor standards and shitty Wal-Mart bargain-bin mentality. You`ve been taught to love quantity over quality with never a word of anything that defies the media.

If jeri ryan was just gunna sit on-stage and not contribute she should have worn a bikini...then again, the last thing i would assosiate with her is being overweight. Perhaps she felt she couldnt really contribute without sounding really phoney.

And as for the discussion, im a big dude, but im glad people made fun of me for it. Id rather know that someone doesnt like me for being fat rather than have some asshole pussyfoot around and feign kindness to avoid prison.

What`s this obsession Americans have with using "war on" as a prefix for something they don`t like? Also, to respond to Tada, when people talk about the cost of obesity, they`re usually not talking about slower workers or shorter life-spans. The cost of obesity is the infrastructure that`s required to accommodate the fatties: all the extra products made, such as a self-wiping apparatus and other gadgets for the adventurously obese, as well as the medical strain and resources that go into fixing the fatties when they finally fall over from hardened arteries.

Maher`s point is not that we need a war on fatties or the logistics involved, but that obesity will collectively create more of a public harm than he will smoking pot in his house to relax, since he`s a responsible adult. Or at least I`m going to say that`s his point since he`s supposed to be a libertarian pot-head.
