You are correct, but an unenforced law by unconcerned parties is hardly going to change the fact that war is a fucked up situation to be in.

Unless you`re winning, of course.

In which case it fuckin` rocks.

They`re illegal in ground warfare only meaning air crews can carry hollow point rounds.

what`s the point of creating "war rules"...the whole endgame is to kill the other guy. Should we go back to standing in rows where the front line takes a shot and the other front line eats it... and vice versa? yes..so civilized.

Yeah flametrhowers, shotguns, frangibles, all legal, but don`t use any damn hollowpoints. Nonsense.

.50 caliber was outlawed for use on people as well. That`s why you would aim at a guy`s canteen or something and "accidently" take off his leg. It`s the loopholes that get ya.

The point in warfare much of the time, though, is not to kill (or at least, not to kill immediately); it`s to *wound*, thereby causing a greater loss of resources to the enemy.

A dead soldier is cheap; the cost of transport (if that) and burial. A wounded soldier requires much more care, attention, and the devotion of whole crews.

Edit for IAmCandian: Yes, the consequences if you fire and miss are always potentially frightening. But the over-penetrating quality of hardball, roundnose ammo makes it more dangerous to more people even if you hit the intended target. You get the worst of both worlds; a round that might not have stopped an attacker, and went through him into an innocent victim (or something that went through a wall into an innocent victim).

Hollowpoints are less likely to over-penetrate (either a person or a wall) thus making them safer for urban/police and/or armed civilian use. Safer still in the hands of someone well-trained and disciplined which, sadly, too many police are not.

edit for Godsim below: Most people who are shot by handguns are stopped, but don`t die. Simple fact.

I don`t see anything scary... just a couple pieces of metal. Fear of weapons is a sign of immaturity.

^you wont be thinking that when one of these is looking you in the face. there is nothing immature about fearing a weapon that can fuck you up.

im not sure what these guys are trying to get across, i do agree that it has more stopping power, but what if it misses the target? what if theres crossfire and hits another police officer, there are several consequences that will come into play for using either, sure the full metal jacket doesnt rip people apart, but atleast if it misses the target it wont rip apart the wrong person.

Doesn`t matter if you`re using FMJ or Hollow-point rounds, just put 50 rounds into innocent civilians and get away with it in court.

First off, I think guns are awesome. I think shows about guns are awesome. People should be shooting at trees with hollow-points all the time, it just seems like great fun.

What I can`t stand is the dickwad who`s speech accompanies the awesome video images is acting like cruel weaponry is fine to be used at people, since it is effective, and that you are letting a criminal rape your kids if you disagree. With his logic, there is nothing wrong with clusterbombs, mustard-gass, depleted-uranium bullets, atomic bombs, IEDs, gaybombs, anthrax and letting a soldier disguised as a child waving a white flag backstab the opposing force. All pretty effective.
