No this is brilliant ... because technically it`s not insulting if they really are a dangerous cult, it`s then just a genuine statement of fact.

I can`t wait for them to debate this and bring to light just how much scientology has done ... and in court hahahaha where the case can be referred to continually, even for removing tax exempt status and the like.

Go Anonymous and Epic Nose!

well even if it is true it could still be seen as insulting so he could still be fined. Even if that does happen i would hope that other anon members or supporters would donate money so he can pay it off. Many Laws need to be challenged as attitudes change, if he believes what he is doing is right that he should have no fear! Good publicity as well, probably worth £1000 just for that.

What a fool, the sign should have said, "Scientology is a religion, and therefore a dangerous cult"

Even if Epic Nose was technically incorrect, and even insulting, he shouldn`t be fined for expressing opinion, no matter how blatant. We should always defend to the death the right to say it.

From BBC news Friday 20:00.......
No charges over Scientology demo

Legal action has been dropped against a 15-year-old who faced prosecution for branding Scientology a "cult".

The teenager held up a sign which read, "Scientology is not a religion, it is a dangerous cult", in May outside its headquarters in the City of London.

City of London Police said it had received complaints and warned the teenager to get rid of the sign as it breached the Public Order Act.

Scientology is a cult, but by saying so and voting up this video you are going to be monitored and then slandered and attacked/ sued.

The case was Dropped! ;-)

“The CPS review of the case includes advice on what action or behaviour at a demonstration might be considered to be ‘threatening, abusive or insulting’.

“The force’s policing of future demonstrations will reflect this advice.”

Read up on precedent, people! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precedent

Here is how the whole thing went. A cop saw epic nose guy, who might was committing a crime, i.e. he was a suspect. It could perhaps be offensive to a lot of people which is simply a violation of the "Public Order Act", which clearly states on 1B that a person who "displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting," is in violation of the law.

The cop then thought for a minute about what to do and decided it would be best to tell epic nose guy that this may be a crime and that the penalty is a £1000 fine and that if he will have to go to court to prove he did not commit a crime, this is what`s knows as a summons. A summons is when the cops have finished their investigation and simply concluded that there might be a case but the best course of action is to check with the Public Prosecution Service, they simply set a date for you to go to their place and talk about it. The PPS hears your side of the story and then the lawyers argue amongst themselves and then say "We will/will not prosecute you.".

Then epic nose guy went to court with his lawyer and argued for his side and won, thus setting the example on how cases like these will be treated in the future. So right now, and in theory forever, it is perfectly legal to call scientology a dangerous cult, no one can sue you for it in any way or call the police on you.

Also, people very often confuse freedom of speech with the idea that you can say anything anytime. Which would pretty much mean I could go around shouting in people faces and shout "NIGGERS ARE RAPIST APES!" on the bus with a big megaphone, that is simply offensive and it not something which is covered in freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is probably more accurately translated as "the right of voicing your opinion in a healthy manner by using various forms of media(TV, newspaper/magazine, radio and art) and/or through peaceful protest".

Cases like there are EXTREMELY vital for the survival of free speech, that`s fucking caps lock`d to indicate that this is srs bznz, since they draw a clear line on what is healthy expression and offensive.

EDIT: The title is misleading as fuck.

EDIT #2: Epic Nose Guy won: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7416425.stm

It`s been a few months. The protests gained quite a bit of steam in the beginning, but recently, it seems like public interest has fizzled out, like another flavor-of-the-week thing. And that`s really sad.

The main goal is to cripple Scientology, right? Take away their tax exempt status, inform the public on their crazy pseudo-philosophy, and perhaps even rescue current captives from their grip, RIGHT?

I`m sick of this shit. I want those bastards gone, immediately!
