Run Your Car On Water Today: Stan Meyer ...

Stan Meyer invented a hydrogen fuel cell that converts any automobile to run on tap water. Stan Meyer never saw his invention reach fruition as he was killed shortly after this documentary was made.

it`s really sad how the planet is in a spiraling meltdown & all governments are concerned about is profiteering from outdated inefficient methods and not choosing alternatives due to vested interests to really help solve dramatic problems that need addressing.

OK, water based engines sounds to be an excellent idea. I fully support researching any new ideas. but I have a few concerns that never gets answered by these videos about water engines.

1- Although water is one of the most abundant resources on earth, these engines use distilled water. Distilled water or even just drinkable water in general is one of the very important resources on earth. A lot of places around the world are having droughts. Now, imagine if we all start using what clean water we have for our cars and airplanes. Remember, a gallon of distilled water is a little over a dollar now.

2- OK, assume we can distill water easily and cheaply. Now, every gallon of water you use in your engine is broken into H and O2, right? So, the outcome of this process is energy and gas. So, what happens next? How are we getting the water back? I don`t think it`s easy to form water (H2O) from H and O2 or that it forms naturally in the air. So, this process will lead eventually into a bigger problem, wouldn`t it?

If anyone have answers to these questions please let me know.

Now understand that Im no physicist. But I`ve done some research about this and what I understand, the out come is not gas, but H2O. Thats right, You get pure water back.

And besides, water level is rising due to global warming so I think it cant do any harm since we still get the H2O back, right?

I thought that this invention was ingenious. I have been a strong advocate of hydrogen fueled cars for a while now and this seems to be the missing link. This should be able to rid the world of its dependence on fossil fuels.

They showed in the first part, in his demonstration, that he was using tap water not distilled water. I can understand the concern for using drinkable water as a fuel source, but with desalination plants being used we can get drinkable water from ocean now. If you forgot the oceans do make up about 70% of Earths surface. Now only if someone figured out a way to put the exhaust water back into the holding tank. Then again what do I know I am not a scientist, just a wishful thinker. Its a shame they killed the guy, what a waste.

The draw backs of this invention is:
1. The streets will be wet 24/7.
2. As every single car and factory emits water, as that water evaporates, our world would be raining nearly everyday.
3. Other countries where they get struck by hurricanes etc. (Myanmar) will suffer even greater consequences.

Think big.

Then we would need to learn how to control mother nature.

yea, your right. lets just keep on paying the astronomical gas bills and continue to spill toxins in to the air. we`ll just drown because of global warming

Think wise

Edit: The water that comes out can go back to the hydrogen fuel cell

the car emits no gas...
the evaporated water is recycled.it`s like its own atmosphere

When you use fuel to generate usable energy, you begin with a higher energy fuel, and react it to form a lower energy product and usable energy. In this case, you could use hydrogen gas and oxygen gas to create water and usable energy.

2H2(g) + O2(g) --> 2H2O(L) + energy

But what no one seems to realize is that you need to put energy into water in order to create the hydrogen gas in the first place. In fact, you put (a lot) more energy into the water than you get out of the reaction that creates the water (due to the reactions not being 100% efficient).

Water is NOT fuel. This video overlooks (purposefully ignores) that completely. It is impossible to run a car on water, because water only contains useful energy when it isn`t water - that is, when it`s been previously separated into its components. You could run a car on hydrogen, and the car would produce water as a product - that`s the idea of hydrogen fuel cells. You could say that water stores energy.

Also, this technology is nothing new. We`ve known about these reactions for a long time.

^ im not sure if you need to put that much energy in the water in the first place. He just used alot of energy in the video to speed up the reaction. The point is that the car works perfectly fine with hydrogen so why do we need to use gas?

Just a nitpicky comment.
The title description says this is a fuel cell.
Wrong.
This is a electrolyzer running on modified electric current. This splits water into Hydrogen and Oxygen gas. A fuel cell combines H and O2 into water and energy. (The space shuttle uses this)
The free energy argument is a waste of time. If we used solar energy via solar cells to split the water, we would not need oil based products to get the H. Eventually the equipment will pay for itself.

the most ridiculous phony ever. hexish is right as any 16 year old gcse chemistry student will tell you. it takes MORE energy to split water than is RELEAsED when you burn hydrogen. If this invention worked then it would break the 2nd law of thermodynamics and youd be able to create a perpetual motion machine. UTTER FANTASY.

^yep. Thermodynamics is such an ass! But I still want that cool buggy. That looks like fun! I`d rather stick with good old gasoline though...
