Iceless Skating Rinks

No ice, no problem --eco-friendly and cost-friendly iceless rinks may soon be an alternative to conventional ice-skating rinks in Japan. Although more work needs to be done to make skating on the artificial surface more ice-like, iceless rinks could potentially save owners thousands in air conditioning and water bills.
Soon, this eco and cost-friendly iceless rink may become an alternative to ever-shrinking skating rinks in Japan.

Come on guys, maybe its proprietary information at the present time. At least they let you see it. You`d still want to see it if you knew in advance they wouldnt tell you how its done. Wouldnt you? 5/5 because it was still a "cool" video.

Use your heads. This is Japan. It obviously uses a mixture of humpback whale blubber, probably mixed with baby seal fat imported from Canada. All natural!

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...though I do feel that plastic is an unfairly maligned and very useful product.

They don`t say how much the panels cost or what it takes to maintain them. I`m skeptical, but all the power to the folks who think they can make a profit from it.

This is a new thing?? They would set up small rinks with these panels in parking lots around christmas time (it doesn`t snow here). I tried it once, it`s like skating on a plastic chopping board.

Isn`t it illegal to kill baby seals in Canada since the 80s?

I wish everything was "Made In Japan" than "Made In China." All my stuff would be cooler.

I actually saw this sort of thing in Switzerland a few years ago, but it was more aimed at kids who were learning how to skate.

interesting, never seen that before like others have. It would be more cost affective in warmer climints. But would it work for Hockey? Does it fuck up your blades?
