Anti-theist and or Atheism is becomming more and more popular, not because the is no God, (Please remember this is MY opinion) but because people look what has been done in the name of God and say... "I don`t want any part of that shit." To be honest I can`t really blame them. Look how many people have been percucuted and killed in the name of God. Look what perversions are being commited, again in the name of God. No wonder reasonable rational people are saying "Don`t want any part of that crap."
Then you get these bible thumping people who want to force their opinion on everyone else and that too is a turn off. I don`t want to be told what I have to believe, I have a mind and yes, I do know how to use it. Then again with so much mis-information out there it is hard to know what to believe in. It`s much easier to not believe in anything. Again this just my 2 cents worth.

Atheism is just a step towards independence as humans.

In almost all religions mankind is described as children of the god, this analogy is probably the best one I can describe the human mentality towards god with. When we are young we cling to our parents and think they are the strongest, best and perfect. We even have rules that are "given by the gods", much like a normal parent gives their children rules(don`t play with knives, fire and sex is bad for you). However humans can`t simply be children forever. After a while we start to notice that "god has left the room", there is no divine justice being done in the form of miracles like the holy text speak of, this is terrifying to some and they simply deny it completely, basically acting like a child who has been left by it`s parent. "I just know dad will come back soon!".

However that is just a phase. After a while people start to act like teenagers instead. They try all kinds of crap out, paganism, wicca, Buddhism and anything else that seems to be "exotic" and thus right, cause anything primitive people believes must be right(...). Of course like most teenagers we make mistakes and fuck up, but that`s alright.

The thing is that this pattern is followed whether or not god is real or not. The pattern is even true for leadership. We used to be almost blindly obedient to the kings and queens. Then we realized that we don`t need those people all the fucking time. We came up with the idea of democracy to throw those people out and put "normal" people into power. We will probably see the same thing with religion.

Humans learn to control the universe more and more, we have discovered how to make energy and how to turn something useless into something useful. Given enough time we will probably be able to control space and time. I just wonder, if we can do such feats, what is left for God to do?

If God is real he is probably not going to stand in our way when we try to replace him, how many parents wouldn`t want their children to grow up and be free of them? If God isn`t real, I don`t see any reason why we should be allowed to become our own gods.

EDIT: People then make up reasons for their actions, like the ones above saying "We are tired of your shit!". In theory, the reasons could be anything. Even if religion hadn`t killed millions there would still be if fact that their ideologies are unprovable

^ Yeah, we just hate blatant exploitation and manipulation. I guess we`re pretty bigoted for attacking peoples` fundamental views on the universe, especially when they`ve spent so much time blindly believing in them. God forbid a little bit of reason or sound logic were to enter the mind of a believer, can you imagine what he would do if he found out that everything he believed in was a scam and that he had literally wasted years of his life.

before you can say that all religions are wrong, you must learn about the religions and what they teach before you can just say no. otherwise, you are making the same mistake as the people who believe in god based on handed-down beliefs, whether it be through the media, parents, etc.

it takes a very large ego to assume you KNOW the truth. remember the rule of assumption: it only makes an ASS of U and ME. WHAT you believe is LESS important than WHY you believe it.

this is why science is great. it is 99.9999% correct, which still leaves room for error, not assuming that we are 100% correct. it`s like "to the best of our current abilities, this is what we know.." you still gotta keep an open mind to the possibilities because NOTHING is certain.

to assume we know most of what is going on in this universe is absolutely absurd; keep an open mind.

I say that all religions are wrong because we know very little about life. I don`t know what happens after death, but I do know that no one else does either. Anybody who claims to know about gods or afterlife is obviously lying and can`t be trusted, so why should religion be treated any different from a person who claims to know all the answers?
