^ That`s because they`re *all* conservatives. "Democrat" or "Republican", they`re just different shades of rich, elite, religious, mainstream conservatism. There are no "liberal" candidates. Indeed most, if not all, of America`s problems have been caused by the absolute hegemony of business-model, profit-margin, robber-baron, rich-get-richer/poor-get-poorer, conservatives.

As evidenced by the "Are They Running for Pastor" upload, they all thump their bibles. Bill Clinton signed the "Defense of Marriage Act" that federalised anti-Gay discrimination, they all support totalitarian drugs laws. There`s not a single real liberal among them. If this were Europe, all these candidates would be over on the centre-right/far-right end of the ballot.

Oh sure, charges of "socialism" get thrown around, but let`s face it. Every one of the Dem/GOP candidates is about the conservative agenda of Big Business, Big Profit, God, the Flag, and Apple Pie.

I know you sit more on the conservative side of the line, Eck, but you have no room to judge the hypocrisy of the candidates because they all ultimately work towards the same conservative goal, whether they admit it or not.

"And by the federal government, I mean Republicans and Democrats... working together.. And the only thing dumber than a Republican or a Democrat is WHEN THESE PRICKS WORK TOGETHER! We have a two-party system; the Democratic party, which is a party of no ideas, and the Republican party, which is a party of bad ideas.. The way it works is a Republican stands up in Congress and says `I GOT A REALLY BAD IDEA!`, and the Democrat says "AND I CAN MAKE IT SHITTIER!" -Lewis Black

The problem with politics is that all you morons think your opinions matter. We have stupidity raining down from everywhere. I`m sure this post will get voted down because most everyone on this site is a fucking uber genius who has vastly feasible and optimized solutions to all of America`s problems.

No one likes to be called stupid, but I assure you of this, statistically speaking, most of you are complete blithering morons interjecting baseless opinion because you feel entitled to do so with your magic internet connection.

Any country where morons such as yourselves are allowed to vote is doomed to failure. Stupidity electing stupidity.

I`m sure there`s a few of you out there who know this to be true, the rest of you are too stupid to realize you`re too stupid to matter.

WAIT WAIT WAIT, this is the same guy who basically wanted to rule with absolute power with the vow to give everyone a car and assets much like communism.
EDIT: It`s just what I`ve learned in school(I know it might be wrong), I was taught that he wanted too much power for himself and in return for all the power, he would distribute wealth from the rich to the poor. If that`s not communism then what is.

I posted on the Rev Wright thread about this...all three running for president and eventually two.. are on the council for foreign relations...this organization has an agenda( as do many) but obama, clinton and mccain all sit on the board and all have voted the same on each and every issue the council votes on...so is any there any difference between them at all, except color, and gender....i think not...their all green on the inside....i dont think i`ll put it like an asshole as xupz did but he is right in that fact that democrats and republicans working alongside with central banks have made the vote in america as about as significant as voting for your favorite idol...I wouldnt go as far as saying all americans are stupid cause I`ve travelled around the world a fair bit and central banks have used other countries as testing grounds for the techniques they use to dumb down the american public...England has got to be probably the most repressed westernized country in the world...It`s like visiting a giant prison island. So, anyone from another country other than america(as i am) shouldnt spout off too much about how dumb americans are, cause your government is suckling on either the left or right nut of Bush, whichever one condie isnt on that day.

Anyhow, don`t waste your time voting in any rigged election, they don`t even need to rig the voting machines..the same asshole is getting in anyways...instead gather in mass numbers and protest on election day...demand more than a two party system and some real changes. And try not to step on anyone while they tear gas you....

Niscimble: Yes, I tend towards a green libertarian-socialism; lots of personal liberty but with a strong set of social welfare benefits (socialised medicine, education, unemployment etc) and an emphasis on environmentalism. Typical of what we have throughout much of western Europe, or in the proposals of folks like Chomsky.

MeBored: I think you`re displaying the typical American confusion of Communism with Socialism. Yes, Long was a demagogue, but his wealth redistribution programme was hardly "Communism". Again, it was more like the progressive Socialist taxation schemes common in Europe, or even Canada; hardly bastions of Stalinist or Maoist totalitarianism.

DABOBUS: While I don`t quite agree with all your points, I do agree with the conclusion. I think we need another Velvet Revolution, like the Czechs had a few years ago, but this time world-wide. The revolutions that happened in the US and France a few hundred years ago helped change the way people thought about `government`. It`s time to continue the project and assert the supreme right of the Individual to choose their path and control their destiny, free from government or corporate coercion or limits so long as no one else is getting hurt along the way.

We have a two party system? Ha.

No, there are no limits on the number of parties -- only limits on the number of choices the feeble-minded illiterate populace can handle. Thinking that the goals and wishes of 300 million people can be adequately distilled to one of two platforms is completely ridiculous. NOBODY who has been selected by the media as viable is representing MY views. For example, has anyone seen ANY coverage given to Ralph Nader of the Independent party? No, because the corporate media and all corporations stand to lose power and profit if he were elected. So -- just like they did with Ron Paul -- they dismiss him, and tell everyone there are only two parties, and then they choose the puppets who most resemble modeling clay and parade them on every headline ad nauseum until the message to the politically deaf, dumb and blind citizenry is clear: "You will vote for one of THESE people, or you will be throwing away your vote," which leaves them once again to believe we`re in a lesser-of-the-evils situation.

The problem is, they`re ALL evil. Voting for someone who is LESS evil is like saying you favor rape but not murder. Therefore I will be voting for Ralph Nader, not because I particularly like everything he stands for, not because I think he stands a chance, but simply as my little one-man protest against this IDIOTIC electoral process.

xupz: I get a little fed up with people like you since you seems to think everyone on the internet lives in America.

If you looked outside the US you`d see that a lot of countries aren`t like yours. We care about education and we don`t elect idiots. In other countries you can form a party and say what you will and get into your town`s "congress". In Sweden we have like 7 bigger parties which get lots of votes. Then we have around 5 other smaller parties which are just on the tip to get into "congress", all of which where formed post-2000.

So a person can make a difference, just not in your country and the biggest reason for that is because it`s too big to work. You can`t have anything more than the rich and more rich if you are going to campaign around the country, it`s just that simple.

^ Tada, you just nailed one of the reasons the USA was founded with the idea of an extremely limited federal government. It`s not effectively very representative at that level, because it`s not local enough for people to have a real say. That`s why the state and local governments were supposed to be mostly in control. People would actually have a say, a leader they could spit at on the street when shit was going wrong.

The USA is a TV central monopoly.
