Y`see .. post-apolocalyptic films have taken a dive since Waterworld was inflicted upon us. What we need is a good franchise, Fallout for example, a good director, NOT Uwe Boll for example, with a good budget, NOT Sci-Fi channel for example.

And hey presto, greatest post-apocalyptic film.

Although to do Fallout justice it would have to be a series JJ Abrams style.

It`s obviously the cover of a circa 1950s Cold War propoganda comic book. That said, a strong America is exactly what won the Cold War...though I`m guesssing most of you are too young to know about it. Do they even teach it to you at school?

Don`t you think America would be stronger if all her citisens had health care?

If everyone were paid a living wage?

If pensioners didn`t have to gamble on the possibility that their lifespans would outlast their money?

If families were stronger because parents were afforded generous maternity/paternity leave that didn`t force them to work mere weeks, even days (if that!) after the birth of a child?

If incarceration and recidivism rates were lower because laws were sensible and just and prisons really did reform rather than punish?

If labour laws were strong enough that employees could live secure in the knowledge that their jobs/livelihoods wouldn`t be outsourced and exported?

If homelessness were rare because social safety nets existed that kept people housed and offered them jobs instead of forcing them onto the street?

If soldiers who had given their blood for their country were provided the health care and support they were promised by their "grateful nation"?

If the widows and survivors of fallen soldiers enjoyed the security they were promised as some small compensation for their sacrifice?

If you had cheap, clean, convenient public transportation instead of urban sprawl and gas-guzzling goliaths that force you to whore yourself and die for foreign oil (or destroy your precious nature preserves)?

I could go on...

All of these things, and more, are common features in most, if not all, other industrialised western democracies.

All of these things are common features of mainstream, European socialist welfare states.

Most of these things have been suggested in the US, then refused, demonised as "socialism" or "communism" by right-wing demagogues (who don`t even know the difference between the two), often using cold-war scare tactics invoking a "strong America" in order to deprive Americans of real freedom and true security. "Under God".

They didn`t "teach" you in school; they brainwashed a nation`s children and dumbed them down so that they didn`t even know what they gave up for their supposed "security". "Under God".

All the homeless vets and single moms and victims of "downsizing" will not be fed by all those nukes - enough to doom the world many times over. "Under God".

I think you`ve been misinformed..."Under God."
