i think its more than a coincidence for us to have just *nearly* enough matter for the universe to close back in on itself. there just has to be something we`re missing

and we did find out - the universe is believed to be expanding. The oscilating theory doesn`t appear to be correct.

That`s information from the last decade - as late as Stephen Hawking`s 6 part "Universe" series in 1996 - there was still speculation that the universe may condense back in on itself, rather than continue to expand. So a lot of work has been done in the field since Cosmos, and Universe, and the answer only arrived recently. The answer - according to what I`ve seen (if I was paying attention) is that we`re in an expanding universe.

I`d never seen all of Cosmos before - the music is fantastic. The piano piece is just awesome. <3 Sagan.
