Crazy, the media does such a good job of hiding him from us too.

Ron Paul, a man with great idea`s, principles, and morals. Unfortunately the majority of American`s are not made of this, and this is why they vote for degenerates like themselves...

^ I would almost agree, but I see lots of votes stolen by/for the wrong guys (the corrupt ones, the `winners`). So you have to give the American public some credit for the fact that even when they do overcome abject disillusionment and justified demotivation, they get fucked until they bleed.

It`s a losing situation for the public when the whole system is so utterly corrupted as it is. The next real step is either facist police state, or revolution. In any case we can hope that the former inevitably induces the latter, should such a misfortunate detour from sanity come to pass.

At least RP`s wisdom has reached many people, and will inspire many people to sanity and decency by the time he`s done. Not bad for an old guy like him. Got to gove him some serious credit for his accomplishments.

^ I disagree. I think the American public basically comprises of the uneducated and easily mislead. You give people far too much credit.

Plus there`s the case of media bias.

^ Yes many are mislead, and the media is definetly to blame, but I will not agree on the morality. Not even 20 years ago a person that went Bankrupt, or was in the process of losing a home would do everything to stop it, just too keep a good name. But now, all these speculators[Big Population of the US], who bought homes for no money down, and low interest, are now walking away, with no remorse. They`ve even come up with the term, `Jingle Mail`, because people mailing the key`s back to the banks has become so prevalent. A society that does not respect it`s debts, and feels no shame, is one that will crumble under it`s own greed.

At this point, the American people know for a fact that the mainstream media can`t be trusted, the President and his Administration is lying to them, Congress (both parties) is covering up its mistakes and in doing so, covering for the Administration. They`ve been told again and again that our corporate welfare system thrives when the vast majority of the public suffer and suffers when the vast majority of the public thrives.

If the public does not avail themselves of the access to non-mainstream media or foreign media, the how can we blame anyone but the people themselves? The whole reasoning behind the unprecedented freedoms in the Constitution was to empower regular folks to have a choice in how their government is run. That freedom IS still available. It IS possible to vote out an incumbent...it IS possible to do so without voting for the other party.

But all these possibilities provided by the Constitution were based on the assumption that people would act in their own interests when those interests were threatened by those in power. Yet the public still listens to people they know they shouldn`t, and it still coddles the corruption of their favorite government personalities. They just don`t want to act outside their comfort zones and come up with their OWN questions and their OWN answers at a time when we are more capable of doing so than ever before.

So U.S. citizens keep floating along, pretending they have a stake in this country and its future. After all, the "media" are still big business, and they only give the people what they want. If their customers stopped wanting a docile press corps that gives corrupt leaders a pass by not asking tough, confrontational questions at press briefings, then mainstream media outlets would have little choice but to get better. But that would mean a big chunk of the audience would need to be motivated to turn off the T.V. and start reading unfamiliar magazines and news items for more than a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, the public has only two speeds - totally disengaged or barely aware of the issues & totally overwhelmed by the narrative spun at media outlets that fail miserably in communicating enough information for their audience to act in their own interests. They have a choice, but they just don`t exercise it.

They`d rather get information from a confident source that makes them "feel" informed than a credible source that leaves them with questions. We make a choice every day to stay comfortably seated in the dark or to take our first clumsy steps into the arena of public discourse and get engaged. No one has taken that choice from us.

One cause for hope: a new CBS poll shows an overwhelming majority of people were smart enough to realize that the Clinton/McCain summer gas tax cut is bullshit.

I`m not saying people aren`t responsible for themselves, but we need to remember that people are indoctrinated from birth. Education, Media, Advertising - these are all methods of control. It is very difficult for people to face the truth because their lives have been built around carefully constructed fabrications. If you don` t know you`re in the dark, it`s very difficult to get out.

It is more difficult and painful to stay in the dark today than ever before.

When I see Ron Paul, I think "wow, someone normal like me is in the Government".

It`s very soothing.

He could even be president if people actually tried to be a statistic in opinion polls instead of just watching them all the time.

**spoiler**
(you have to vote to have an affect)

"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds."

"I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do."
-Edward Everett Hale.

"All that is necessary for the forces of evil to triumph is that enough good men [and women] do nothing."
-Edmund Burke
