Note: Blacks do not get offended when they call each other nigger only when non blacks used the word nigger. What are they really trying to regulate? They are trying to regulate the thought that is behind the word.

The PC thought police try to tell you that they are trying to form a language where no one will be offended. While we should try to be polite and not offend people, we should not try to police thought.

Do any of you think that it was this teacher's intention to make this kid feel inferior? Do you think that he was acting mean spirited? Or do you believe that this teacher is just sort of a retarded geek?

I think that he is just sort of a dumbass, and for that reason he should be fired.

i agree with Presto, there is a huge double standard in racism as if non-whites can't be racist

As for the teacher i don't think he should lose his job but i think he viewed it as acceptable and was trying to assimilate with his black students, that being said the kid needs to chill out

Wooo canadian chick - i kinda disagree to me this wacky english teacher dont seem like oozing racist, personally he reminds me of this teacha we had that would try to act hip' an cool by tryin to copy what ppl in the class would say, usually ending in laughter ( at his expense). Still the classes were cool cos he was well down to earth - i think this could have been the case except the straight A, boy scout guy sitting at the front decides to " sue!"
Alrite fair enough we cant judge how he said it or what he meant by it but thats one possibility.
Specter may hav got alittle excited on this matter but his got a point, its like OMG sum1 said the N word lets put it on the news!!
The media like to over hype such topics coz as shown on this post it gets major reaction from the public- in which case its good for them coz they can feed the fire with their news papers and tv programs.
The fact that the guy wants his teacha to lose his job is sad since it does nobody good- if he was a racist then he would hav to be re-educated etcc
not shown the door from one area so he could go somewhere else - besides his a teacha - lose his job- duh! whos gonna teach u?
would expect a better respose from the boy scout.

PS. wacky english teacha tryed eva soo hard to justify his action..holdin pieces of paper..u name it. reminds me of a guy who's neva got in to trouble an then when he did- didnt know what the hell to do!

BTW, that student probably says "cracker" more than the teacher has said "nigga"

But then again, the teacher is white, and freedom of speech only applies to minorities.

i am a white guy and laugh if somebody calls me a cracker...that's a joke. but NEVER will i say that word OR the supposively less derogatory term. i have a bunch of black friends and they call each other "nigga" from time to time and have refered to me as the same, but it is NOT ok for a white person to say that word. think about it...our race ENSLAVED theirs...that word has an entire civil rights movement behind it. this teacher is a douche bag, as well as a moron for having been a teacher there for 21 years and not knowing that saying something like that would stir up some shit.
