Another atheist, doing anything to discredit the views of opposition.

Good job making a shitty video containing nothing but counter OPINIONS with out anything relevant to your side of the concept.

While Stein is trying to prove his point, the atheist arn`t trying to prove theirs, their trieing to discredit the views of others.

Pathetic atheists.

EVOLUTION IS A MYTH!!!

Ha I just said that to get your attention (it`s a fact). Don`t be fooled, Ben Stein is doing something very clever. Have you ever heard the quote "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." This is precisely what he is doing. Ben Stein visited my school and gave a speech advocating UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE (or socialized medicine what ever you want to call it) and this as you may know is unpopular in Right wing politics.

He is using the topic of evolution as a wedge to attain influence in the right wing political circles and as you might have heard it`s working. I would not be surprised if after this movie he kicks up the support for health care, but first he has to "rally the troops". He`s a smart man and is purposely pretending to be overly stupid, which I take as a subtle *wink* to those who see through his game. Now I could be wrong about his strategy but these doubts may only be a testament to how commited he is to playing his role.

To put it briefly Ben is getting cozy with the religious right to influence it`s politics and his technique of doing this is genius. Sure he steps on us Atheist toes but what he is doing is ultimately for a humanitarian cause.

Here is a link that supports my defense of him, which is a segment from FOX NEWS were Ben Stein defends UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. He come in right at 2:45.

"Another atheist, doing anything to discredit the views of opposition."

To prove you point you need to do two things, present evidence that your way is the right one AND disprove the evidence that the opposition presents.

This seems to be part 23 of a series and it DOES give you an insight on the fact that Stein doesn`t seems to have any idea what evolution really is. He seems to think the theory is suppose to be a kind of universal theory for the godless universe where everything is explained by it, gravity, thermodynamics and the origin of life.

I can understand that if a person got fired for starting the debate about evolution in a university with the argument "It doesn`t explain anything about gravity." for the same reason why they would get fired if they said "I know nothing about my job or do research on anything, I just guess what the whole thing is about and leave it to that.".
The video is part of a series, so taken out of context with the others it does show a false picture of this person as only disproving Steins view on the matter. It like if I took one word out of your entire comment and said "This is the what Euthphyro had to say about the video" or said entire TV-show being bad just because one episode or scene was crap.

EDIT: I`d like to add that you never did anything other than say "You`re wrong, stupid person.". So really you failed to prove your own point and even to disprove the point of the opposition. Also, it`s not just atheists that believe in evolution.

someone needs to sort him out on tv. Lay down the facts, challenge his ignorance and make a complete fool out of him on live television.

he gets to broadcast utter shit to 100`s of millions on television while ppl with sense can only reach several thousands on the internet(on SH anyway). unfortunate.

^^ Hah, a noble idea (one which I would pay quite a bit to see) but it just doesn`t work for these people. They are immune to facts. And they have so much emotionally invested in their prejudices that they will invariably go mealy-mouthed with some flaccid excuse.

The point is, there`s plenty of research. Plenty of facts. If these fakers were actually interested in the subject, they could find the information they need. But the fact is they want to put YOU on the spot. They rely on people`s sympathies, expecting YOU to coddle them w/ the idea that the truth lies somewhere between two opposing points of view.

They don`t want to debate experts, they want to wear down non-experts like me and you with their nonsense. Say it enough times, and put it on some pathetic news programs, and people will start to think it`s real science. Rupert Murdoch has built an entire media empire on the belief that people are so gullible that they`ll believe anything they see on TV, a magazine, or newspaper has SOME credibility, no matter how methodically disproved a given piece of info is. He accurately believes that people in developed nations are too docile to examine the credibility of their "news" sources, and too ignorant to know better in the first place.

It`s hard to argue that Mr. Murdoch is wrong about his consumers. And now every Tom, Dick, and Jane wants to get in on the cheap thrills and easy money of herding idiots.

Euthphyro,

wow, if maybe, just MAYBE you actually did something crazy like.. oh, I dunno... WATCHED and LISTENED to the clip you may actually see and hear that its actually a pretty comprehensive pwnage of Stein`s documentary. And this guy uses foreign notions to you like FACTS and INFORMATION to back it up. As opposed to creationists that say `NOPE!! GOD DID IT! LALALALALALALALALALALA I CAN"T HEAR YOU!! LALALALALA GOD DID IT!"

What a wonderful verbal asskicking!

Keep grasping at straws, creationists; one of the smartest proponents to your ideas has been shown to be talking out of his ass in a weak bid to slow the onslaught of creationism.

The nice thing about creationists so fervently attempting to rebuke science is it seems to almost force science to expand its knowledge just to shut them up. They keep going for holes in scientific knowledge (ex. the evolutionary `gap`), and scientists rapidly close / constrain their positions by furthering human knowledge.

@Euthphyro; did you watch the film? Did you pay attention? Do you know the definition of `hypocrite`? One of the beautiful things about science is they don`t possess many `for-sure` answers (many intellectuals would assert that they have no answers whatsoever); rather, they have extensive amounts of theories based on daunting amounts of observation, math, and supporting evidence. Religion relies on dogma and has never been correct about a single scientific-ish proclamation (flat Earth, sun rotates around Earth, etc... you know the drill). For being omnipotent and all-knowing, `God` sure is wrong a lot... scoreboard.

^^ Boy, are YOU in the wrong forum for debate etiquette, Ali. No, it`s pretty much a proven fact as much as our observational abilities can prove anything.

The point is not that religious people cannot have or voice an opinion. They`re doing that now. The point is that they cannot call it science. If you cannot prove or disprove something with powers of observation and deduction, then it`s not science. Creationists and ID people still haven`t phrased their beliefs in a way that can be tested by scientific method.

Now, if they want to start taking an honest position and question the entire idea of science as we know it, then they need to gain the courage to state their conviction that, "All science is bullocks."

We`ll stop calling them idiots when they stop calling it science.
