An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he is an immortal who has walked the earth for 14,000 years. This is just one part from the movie, I'll post the link in a comment where you can watch the entire thing if you like. This part of the film, we find out that the main char was Jesus and he explains the simplicity of his attempt to spread the teachings of Buddhism he acquired from Buddha himself and how it backfired..

I think this is the most accurate explanation of how Christianity was formed I`ve ever heard. Basically summed up everything I thought and much more and put it in to words in a way I`ve never been able to. Saying it all through the first person perspective of Jesus himself is perfect!

^^ Aids_Sauce,

Can you post the link to see the entire movie? Or where I can rent it streaming? Netflix doesn`t have it.

It should be a easier than it is to rent streaming movies. I mean, come on, it`s totally easy if you want streaming porn, but regular movies NOOOOOOOOOO.

Brings to mind Richard Bach`s little book, `Illusions: Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah`, the kind of universal, ecumenical ethics with an Eastern/Buddhist twist that really could be the basis for any moral code.

Yeah, I think if "Jesus" did exist, he was likely just the mythologised version of some storyteller/teacher, or just as likely a composite character, assembled from the life stories of many such characters. Invented, by no one and everyone.

And like this guy here, maybe he was just a fraud.

I have had the movie for many months, i thought it was a interesting psychological movie, but it is a very simple way of looking at the bible. Give someone a "magic eye" picture and people will see different things, the idea is NOT to try and see the object, let the object come to you, same with the bible. Jesus never got his knowledge from buddha, christianity never came from another religion.

The movie is a good example to show if someone really wants to believe they will believe anything. Great example to show how alot of religions are so successful.

Ummmm MysticMan, just a reminder, Christianity came from Judaism. If you believe the Bible`s own myth, Jesus was a Jewish teacher, bringing one school of Jewish thought (that typified by teachers like Rabbi Hillel) to a wider audience.

Too, if you consider when and where Christianity evolved, it`s no coincidence that it bears a striking resemblance to other religions and cults from around the region. It is extremely likely that aspects we take for granted as "Christian" were actually absorbed from these other adjacent beliefs.

Could Buddhism have been one of those? That`s a bit of a reach, but not impossible. The trade routes between Asia and the Middle East were well-known and well-traveled. Asian religion and art had already been influenced by Greek conquest and exchange at the hands of Alexander. Indeed, Buddha had seldom been depicted as human before Asian artists copied Greek images of the gods. Those Buddhas we think of as so "Asian" (like the ones the Taliban destroyed in Bamiyan) actually have their roots in Greece. We know ideas and merchandise flowed the other direction as well.

Again, I doubt there was one "Jesus", more likely he`s a composite of many, and none. There probably was no "Jesus" that could have learned with Buddha, although there very well could have been early Christians who were influenced by Eastern ideas present in 1st century Palestine.
