I don`t see how you can claim the songs are synched... Green Day`s song has obviously been edited and I wouldn`t be surprised if Simple Plans was either. Not that im defending emo rock, i just don`t see how you claim its formulatic shit if you tamper with the songs themselves.

cheerio, i cut up the green day song because the structures of both songs weren`t similar enough to make my point. What was very similar was the chord progressions, melodies, rhythems and vocal styles. 4/5 is more than enough in my mind.

Well that`s been done since the blues. Yeh it`s kind of lame but what can you do. People like comforting stuff and so they like their songs to sound the same. Not much we can do about that. This is a problem for all mainstream music, not just Emo. Rap I`d say is a pretty close second for worst offender.

(A fan of rap but even I can admit it`s horrendously repetitive)

I immediately thought of Green Day - Blvd of broken dreams when I first heard this simple plan song for some reason as well. I thought it sounded good mixed together.

Neither of them are emo lol. They`re just really shit pop songs (think Brittney with a different look and a guitar).

When you hear true emo... you`ll know. Music that makes you crack every tooth you grind, cramp your entire spine as you tense and cringe, overdrive your brain as you suddenly hate every middle-classed white kid that thinks they have life hard despite being in the top 13% of global quality living.... that`s when you`ll know you`ve heard emo.

It`s not about the whiney voices, the drag-on beat, the black clothes and the make up for fashion shoots... these songs are just an appetiser. It`s all about whinging about pretty much fucking everything normal in life that normal people have to deal with.

God I`m just starting... I have to shutup before a rant comes on. Remember saltesc, it`s just the internet. Your words mean nothing here...
