works the same between all of those groups of chemicals(its been a while but i think all acids and bases) as then they make salt+watter though it may not be table salt or even table it makes salt and water

correct me on the groups of chemicals.. i cant believe i don`t remember that lol

@ ywn. this is a reaction between an alkali metal and a halogen, not an acid base reaction. the Cl atoms need one electron to complete their outer shell and sodium(the alkali metal) need to lose one to become stable. basically the chlorine steals an electron and the ions become attracted to each other. this forms an ionic bond.
