Great topic, but it`s only the first 10 minutes.

Would love to see the rest

I still think when we find might find out about the higgs particle next month, the earth blows up from the act of trying to measure it.

Just like in "Lexx"

sounds like these mathematicians got their ideas over a joint.

nonsense, infinite lines in a circle do not spaceout and make gaps... this is all based on total non-sense.

let me explain like this... lets say you have a gap thats starting to form, well... draw a line to fill it in, except, that line was always there. because there are infinite lines.

that`s kinda cool...

Figure out there are gaps in your theory, so your mind says "Fuck it, I`m out of here"

and off to the asylum you go.

Yeah it SOUNDS cool when you listen but im sure most of you havent even touched a vector or multivariate calculus or vector spaces with a ten foot pole.. this stuff is boring as hell to study. And im talking about stuff that actually has application in electromagnetism and quantum physics... the stuff these guys are talking about is so irrelevant (for now) that it will bore you to death as soon as you open a book.

neon neophyte: yes, there are infinite lines, but that doesn`t mean that new lines will appear or bend to fill the gap. Because the lines are strait and moving outwards, there must be a gap.

I don`t get the argument of galileo. If there are infinitely number of lines, then gaps shouldn`t appear because the lines have almost no thickness and they should be able to extend outward to create a circle of infinite circumference. He`s talking about lines as if you are drawing them, you have to imagine that the lines he`s talking about have infinitely small thickness which means they take up zero area. This means that infinite number of lines could be draw next to exact other with infinitely small angles between them. The only time when gaps would appear is when the lines protrude beyond the point of infinite.

din, thats a big negative. think of it this way... extend the outer circle to where these so called gaps appear, now, where there are gaps, draw in more lines... it could very easily be done. split the distance between the 2 lines on each side of this "gap" and put a line in the middle, the gap is gone. except, how can u add 1 line to infinite lines? infinite is not X and this is not algebra.

the whole premise is bunk.

see guys - you don`t get the point of explaining what infinity is, you just focus on idea that infinity is not a fix value - but no one sure if it either - thats why we have to try harder to explain - maybe if we succeed we will build a time machine or something

I do not feel obliged to believe that same God who endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect had intended for us to forgo their use.
