^^ I knew a guy who saw a guy lose the skin on his hand cause he tipped a pan (that was full of oil and on the salamander) to see what was in it. He said the sound was like muck hitting the floor. Fucking nasty.

Reminds me of when I landed a job at KFC when I was younger. First time using deep fryers and I dropped a pen in one, natural reaction was to go in after it but luckily my brain turned on halfway through the action of putting my hand in. It just sits there calmly, you kind of forget the oil is sitting at 600C. I was lucky, but there are plenty of stories of people putting hands into the fryer to retreive things because it`s a natural reflex.

This was on TV not too long ago. Scared the shit out of me. It`s the scariest out of all of them....so far. ha ha!

I had a friend who got burned in a similar way...not with a full pot of oil, mind you, but more with a splatter of oil. Not a pretty sight.

I live in Montreal and I`m getting tired of those alarming commercials. I mean there is like what 100 000 cooks in our country? Send them a flyer about safety... the rest of the population doesn`t want to see this FREAKING video while they`re calmly watching TV.
